Default Installing 1.6 roller rocker arms

I will be installing Crane Gold 1.6 ratio 3/8" self-aligning roller rockers on my LT1. It has all stock internals and has 130,000 miles. Do I need to change the valve springs or studs?

I wouldn't install 1.6 rockers without changing the valve springs. Some people don't change the springs and they get away with it but I wouldn't do it. Your 130k valve springs are worn out anyways. Last year I installed some LT4 valve springs and picked up 1 mph at the track with no other changes. My old springs had 117k on them.

Default follow-up

So factory LT4 springs should work fine, any other spring recomendations? No one commented on the studs, so are the stock ones ok to stay with?

Stock studs are 3/8" so they are fine and the LT4 springs will work fine.

What are your goals for the project? If you plan on spinning over 6000 or plan on making horsepower swap out the 3/8 stud for 7/16. Run Non-self aligning rockers with hardened pushrods and guide plates.

I picked up over 50rwhp with a spring and rocker upgrade. My previous builder put cheap s.b.I springs in and i had majors valve train issues,12 broken damper springs to be exact lol. I went with the comp beehive springs and scorpion 1.6 s/a rockers. Kind of wish I had just bought a good n.s.a rocker and done guide plates cuz I like too rev my motors

I have a set that was run 2000 miles before a tear down for a 383 build. Won't fit in my iron heads. $80 shipped. All 16 with retainers and caps.
