Default K and N cold air intake worth it?

I have been wondering for a while if the K and Ns cold air intake actually makes a difference and if its worth the money?

Would like to know from people who have them

Thanks Cody

I like mine so far. I didn't dyno it before or after but I did notice a difference. The k&n cai improved my throttle response quite a bit and besides anything is better than the stock box.

oh, definitely, the stock airbox is actually a cold air intake, but it's pretty restrictive, and the more you modify your engine, the more of a restriction it becomes

it's usually the first mod anyone does

i always found the k&n kits a bit overpriced, and used the lingenfelter supertube myself, but i think it might be discontinued

I made mine for maybe 70 bucks. Just need 3.5 inch exhaust pipe(straight and j bend), hose couplers, and a big filter. I think there way over priced for the hp gain.

its spray painted with ceramic. I am looking for a heat sleeve to slide over it. Pretty sure the k and n cai is kinked like the stock one too

i'm still so very confused as to why you didn't just use plastic pipe, which is cheaper and barely heat soaks, instead of going through all the trouble of painting and shielding it

Cause i didnt wanting it to look like a crap, ricers use plastic pipe. Besides whats so hard about spray painting something? Plastic still absorbs heat too.

here's the one, you'd be really happy with it.. the filter is as good as the k&n and the tube is almost identical (maybe a bit cheaper of plastic but still)

Look around for a good used one. I just sold one for $110.

For a 93 T/A LT1 i see the one that mystery bird posted has the air flow censer in it, but i could easily replace it with plastic pipe if i wanted to

Yeah, bc exhaust pipe won't give that same look. Lol
Plastic does absorb heat but not to the extant that exhaust pipe does.
