vats security light on
So ive done some reading and will continue to do more.. but figured ide throw up a post to see if anyone familiar with this system wants to chime in ..
My security light has been on in my 2000 z28 since i baught it 2 years ago.. runs and drives fine. it broke in the on position. so i got lucky i guess.
but figured ide get around to fixing it finally . OHMed out the key, its got 886 resistance. Key pellet "4" stuck the key in the ignition turned it to on while probing the vats wires.. "0" ie it needs a cylinder or wires or whatever. got a 900 ohm resister wired it where the vats wires plug in. orange coated wires that go to the ignition are completely unplugged. Carstill starts fine , but no change, security light stays on.
Do i need to reset the battery or something? or will the resistor trick just not work? does that mean i need a new BCM, can i just throw any bcm into it, ive got extras from cars ive parted out.
