im stumped on this guys rear drivers caliper is locked up??
im stumped on this guys.rear drivers caliper is locked up??ive replaced the caliper, brake line ive greased and cleaned the slide pins, and checked for smashed hard lines..ive even blown out the lines on my 94 6 speed camaro lt1.i dont know if it matters but i just swapped from auto to 6 speed on the car. but the drivers rear locks up after about 3 or 4 miles and makes the car almost impossible to drive and then brake starts smoking..so somebody please help me out here the only thing i havnt replaced is the prop valve but i was under the impression both rears would be effected..help please!!

Start out by flushing the brake fluid in the rears, have a friend help you by bleeding the lines until you have fresh clean fluid. I would disconnect the line where it feeds both rear brake lines and flush the fluid out looking for any sedimate. You will probably go through 2 quarts of brake fluid to get the lines truely clean.
The correct bleed is always working towards the master cylinder so the order is RR,LR,RF,LF. Once you are sure there is no air in the lines and no issues in your brake fluid test drive the car, and verify the condition still exists or if that cleared the problem.

I would double check that you got the right pads. I had a similar problem with my girlfriend's blazer earlier this year. It turned out the part number they gave me was xxx792, when they should have given me xxx729. The wrong ones fit in the caliper (not as easily as I would have thought) and could be squeezed over the rotor with not too much effort. The brakes eventually would heat up and smell badly, and within my 10 mile drive from her work back to my house, I had boiled the brake fluid and barely had brakes. When I finally got the correct ones, they were 1/8" thinner than the wrong ones, even after basically driving around with the brakes on for a day.

When you say you replaced the caliper, did you put a new, rebuilt or used caliper on. If you installed rebuilt or used your caliper might be the problem.
If calipers aren't the problem, have you checked for a bad master cylinder not releasing the back brakes.
Maybe a proportioning valve that has gone bad, not letting brake fluid leave the rear caliper.

You never know if a used brake caliper has a stuck piston or not. That's why I stay away from used brake parts. Rebuilt caliper has a chance of being bad right out of the box, though it's a small chance compared to used brake parts.

The proportioning valve would only compensate front-rear bias and you would have the same issue on both sides. I would thoroughly check the parking brake system to rule that out.

^ he is right about the prop valve, I would say it is your caliper man not a whole lot else it could be.
I would take it off or pump it with it off to see if it moves in and press it back in with a c clamp a few times.
you bled it right?
