Clock/Radio face doesnt light up!

The display/clock on my radio does not light up.(00 Formula) It will come on every once in a great while and stay on for a bit then go right back off.
Everything works fine it just doesnt show me anything.

Anyone have this problem before and a fix for it?

If its comming and going and the radio still works then its prob a bad connection somewhere in the circuitry in the display.

ok update, so i pulled the radio and opened up the top, inside looking at the board i see loads and loads of corrosion almost like battery acid, pulled out the tape player part to see more of the board and there is more even worse corrosion. i cleaned it all up with alcohol and q-tips to the best i could but when i put it back in the display is still dead. from what i could tell it looked like it was right under where the top vent holes where and even coming from the smaller black connection. so in my opinion replacement is about the only option and it looks like this may have been caused by condinsation dripping from the vents right above the head unit. now i need to either get another standard unit or a unit that will work with the 12 disk changer

if you want to take a look at yours the small bolts holding the tape deck down (little and gold) ar 4.5 mm

so now i ask anyone who knows of a unit that will work with the changer

ok today i pulled the whole radio apart ..... not fun, but figured out at least what my problem is, the glass display connected to the board with the lights and the buttons is shorted out, a small burn mark on the lower right corner is the dead give away

so if you end up pulling it look around the glass for a burn mark

also the wires can easily be pulled from the front so be carfull and pull the botom plate and disconect everything first ... i had to re wire the conections being careless
