I have a 1995 impla ss. Went to get fuel and it wouldn't start back up. Towed home, replced fuel pump and filter. Still not right,so replaced fuel regulator.Has 40 psi at fuel rail. Have to hold accelerator to the floor to get started. When it does start it idles to fast seems like. If you give it gas it will die.So tps, mass air, icm, ignition coil, iac have been replaced and still same symptoms. Any help will be appreciated.
Next, instead of throwing parts at the problem you need to do some troubleshooting. Use an obd 1 scanner to read any codes as many codes don't light the cel. Dtc 16, 41, & 42 are among these. All 3 are serious ignition faults and all 3 don't light the cel.
An obd 1 scanner that does running sensor scans would be helpful also. You could see what the sensors are telling you.
We have a free obd 1 scan program in the 4th gen section sticky threads. It's called "scan9495" It was made for 93-95 f-bodies but it might work on an impala ss. PM the programs author, GaryDoug, to see if scan9495 works on your car.
If yes, you will need a cable to connect car's aldl to usb port of pc based computer. Get at OBD Diagnostics
Don't know if your impala has a 12 pin or 15 pin aldl, but company sells both kinds.
Just an update to my earlier post. Replaced temp. Coolant sensor at the water pump and that was my problem. Cars runs great again.
