4l60e no forward or reverse
i bought a 97 trans am with the lt1 and 4sp auto with 107,000 miles. everything worked great, tranny never slipped, never clunked, no weird noises then i broke a tranny mount. got it fixed, everything was fine. broke tranny mount again, so i planned to drive it very nice until i had a chance to replace it again. parked the car over night, the next morning i started it up, put it in reverse and it moved about a foot then stopped. now it will not move forward or backwards in any gear. im puzzled because normally a tranny will give you some signs that it is going out but this went from shifting perfect to nothing over night. the car now has 128,000 miles on it. any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

Check line pressure. You probably have zero... Probably broke a pump rotor.

As stated, check the fluid first.
If it has fluid in it, as Dynamic said, check the pressure. If you have none, it's the pump. If you have pressure it's most likely the converter.
This could also be a differential. Easiest way to diagnose that is to see if the speedo goes up with the car in gear, without the vehicle moving.
Does the trans still have the stock depth pan? I've seen people put deep pans on with shallow pan filters, and the filter fall out of the pump.

I am having the same problem. My car will go in reverse and drive all day in reverse. But when I put it in drive,3,2, or 1 it just revs. The speedo doesn't move, just the rpms. Fairly new trans and has new fluid and trans filter. I've been stumped on this issue for 5 days now, taking trans pan off making sure fluid and filter are good, checking linkage cable, I'm puzzled. Trans doesn't make any kind of noise at all in any gear. When u put it in reverse u can feel car squat down like its ready to go backwards and will drive backwards all day, but when put into a forward gear feels like its in neutral... 94 firebird lt1

You're having an issue with the forward clutches or the apply piston. The 4L60E is notorious for cracking the factory aluminum forward pistons. When this happens, fluid bleeds by instead of applying the clutches. This is why we use the later steel pistons in our race transmissions.
