I have been working on my second LS1 Turbo car of my own. It’s a 2000 Z28 with a 370 cube iron block motor, ported 6.0L heads, TU1 cam, TH400 trans, Yank 3000 stall, T-brake, 9 inch rear with 3.25 gears and a spool. I have built several of these 6.0L manifold turbo setups for different people using different combinations. It is built to fit with the stock radiator in the factory position . I have moved the radiator as seen in the pics below to make room for bigger turbo’s and my up coming twin 76mm setup and 408 cube motor.

Here is the kit off the car on the mock up motor.

New cable for FAST should be here tomarrow. I had troubel with the one I had. Th eLaptop would not communicate with the XFI box. Hopefully the new ones take care of the problem and I can have the car running tomarrow afternoon. If not the XFI box will be sent back to FAST for inspection.

The new Com cable worked. I got it to start and run for about 10 seconds then it died. It is pig rich. I have to do some home work on the FAST setup.

Well the car is up and running. I hope to have pics and vids soon. I have been busy getting the FAST XFI setup lined out. I have driven the car a little bit. I have a 7lbs spring in he Waste Gate. Heck at 7lbs is spins. Boost coms on strong and very fast at 2800rpms . I can wait to get it lined out and put the 14lbs springs in. I am limited to 14lbs right now due to my 2 BAR MAP sensor.

Im scared...Someone please tell me they are feeling the same way. Anyone?!

Well I felt scared tonight bringing the car home. I got it into boost (just 7lbs) and it felt great all up to the point that the tires started to spin. My wife was behind me and thought I had lost it. It honestly felt stronger than my 03 Cobra did with 15lbs. I love it.

looks very nice,. i have 2 questions, 1 did you put a turbo on the cobra or was it still the stock blower? and may be a dome question, but i havent worked on to may ls1s but does the alternator always stick up like that?

Josh@KY Turbo and Perf.
05-07-2007, 08:43 PM
Nope the 03 Cobra had a ported Eaton on it.

The alt. has been relocated to it current posistion.

sounds pretty good. those blowers are still pretty bad ass, better then any centrificul in my opinion for street cars.

yea but when you think about it there is only so many ways to make a turbo kit. simpler is always good, and depending on the vehicle and fittment issue there is only so many places you can place the turbo due to heat issues.

There is a link to the start up video on You Tube. I am by far no camera guy but its a video. I will have more to come now that I have figured out how to get the video to my PC.

I went to the track tonight. Made it a hole 30minutes befoe I decided I had to run the car. Wasnt really prepared. I just lined it up babied it out of the hole and let it eat at the top of 1rst gear.
Here is the Slips:

The night didnt really go as planned. On the second run you can see that the MPH really dropped off. Trouble stuck again. I blew the pressed in upper radiator hose out of the water pump. Never seen that one before. Anyway, the MPH shows the car has potential. I just have to get everything sorted out. Both runs were on 7lbs of boost, 11.5:1 A/F, and 17* degrees of timming.

Nice. Those would have been some very fast passes if your 60' was beter.

Josh@KY Turbo and Perf.
05-13-2007, 03:37 PM
Yeah. The 60' is where the ET is at. It's got 10 second MPH all over it. No point in putting the tires up in smoke in first gear though. I just wanted to see what the car would MPH with the 7lb spring.

Looks good Josh! The M.P.H. looks VERY promising. Last weekend I got an itch and designed a new Alternator Relocate bracket. So far, it works much better than the other 500 rickety rackety ones out there. ;)

Got the car on the dyno yesterday morning. It had 93 octane pump gas and maybe 2 gallons of 110 in it. Timming was 15* degrees, A/F was 11:1, and it had a 10lbs spring in the WG.
Setup for those who haven't followed along:
Iron 370 8.5:1
TU1 cam (225/225 .581/.581 113)
Ported 6.0L heads with 918 springs
LS6 intake and TB
6.0L manifold turbo setup.
Turbonetics TC76MPS
Turbo smart WG and BOV
FMIC
3" DP
TH400
Yank 3000 stall
Moser 9 inch w/3.25 gears

561hp and 564tq.
I am very happy with the numbers on 10lbs through the drivetrain. It am gonna keep it on the stupid safe tune for a while. I know there is more power to be had with an aggresive tune. The logs oh the FAST showed the boost comming on at 2800rpms. It spools super fast once it loads up. The car is a blast to drive. My inj. DC was at 85% with 58lbs of base fuel psi. I dont have the regulator boost refrenced. I am hopping it can make the 14lb springs on the current fuel setup.
I didnt get any video of the pulls. Sorry. I will take the camera to the track with me Tuesday night and try get some of a pass or too down the track.

Took the car to the test N tune tonight at Beech Bend. Decided to make some passes on the BFG DR's and see what it would do. I was happy to say the least. I hit 130mph and just shy of my 10 second goals. Could build any boost on the line. I need to hook up the t-brake.
Here are the slips. Sorry for the crappy quality. My scanner doent like me.

I did manage to get some video of the car. I have to thank Hogan's date for the video footage. The car moves out slow the first couple passes. The last pass was blast. So close to a 10 second street car. Here is the link to the video.

I love this turbo. Went to the track tonight. I had the new QA1 rear shocks on the car set at 5. Lowerd the air pressure in the 315 BFG DR's to 15lbs and lined the car up. Staged. Got on the t-brake, left the line on 3lbs and BAM. My 10 second pass is here. 10.91 @ 131mph.
The track went away as the night progressed. The prep was lacking. I definatley need to get the QA1 coil overs on the front of the car and get some big 'n' littles on the car.
At any rate I have a bonified 10 second street car.

Runs are from left to right. I put the in the scanner backwards.
Here is a link to videos of all but the fisrt 10.91 @ 131 run.

Actually all kinds of progress has been made. I have started doing alot of 1 off builds in house. I have 3 builds going right now and 3 waiting to get in.

My car has been torn down to recieve:
-full Aerospace drag brakes front and rear,
-manual brake booster,
-MS 10pt cage,
-15x3.5 & 15x10 Weld Pro Stars,
-26x4 MT front runners & 325/30/15 MT DR's,
-3.50 gears,
-a new 91mm thumper turbo setup.

I am shooting for 1000+ rwhp with the new setup.:LS1LT1flag::devil:

Are you using your old hot parts or is this a whole new setup?

Josh@KY Turbo and Perf.
08-03-2007, 04:58 PM
No the 91mm setup will be based around a set of custom tube headers and feed pipes.

The setup on the car will be sold as a complete setup. I have not yet got to the point of offering just hot parts.
