Yea the car might be a bit slow for this crowd and I have no experience at the drag strip........but we all have to start somewhere.
Thanks for the kind welcome.

Congrats on the purchase:)
Verts are heavier than the T and HT roofed cars, therefore a little slower.
Whats your tracks altitude? and what was the temperature that day?
What was your 60ft time? Auto or M6?
Lots of questions LOL :)

Do I know you? and from where?
http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php
I went to this site and used the correction factors of :90*Degrees,40%Humidity,Barometer 30.00, Track Elevation 1600ft,Time and speed=14.3@102.00
Corrected your car went 13.57@107.18
I find the MPH is off by 2 or3 mph as I have checked it against some of my old slips

I was racing that night too. My friend had my video camera and taped about 7 of your runs but only two of mine before the battery died. What was your best pass?

14.3
But it was my 1st time at a drag strip (as a driver) and i tryed a few things ie: with tc....w/o tc.....stall....no stall....let the car shift then i would shift it and so on.
OK this is kind of embarrassing but it is the truth.....the best run was the first one i did, with tc on and let the car shift its self.
worst run no tc i shift (and spun out like mad) .....um..here it is ...sad...15.2.....hangin my head low.
I will understand if i'm asked to leave the site now.

Don't worry about it. There are other LS1s running similar times - especially on there first time out. I've seen lots of high 14s and low 15s LT1s too. You'll obviously improve. What were your 60's and trap speed?
You should have came out on Friday. Our F-Body club was the guest club for the Friday street legal. There was about 5 other LS1s running.
Are you going to be coming back this year for a 13s timeslip? Any mods planned?

tell me more about your club.
dont think i will run till i do my winter mods, the rear is realy noisy (so were my 3rd gens) and the trans is weak, shift kit at least.

Our club is mostly Sask based with a few members in MB and AB. Its also mostly 3rd and 4th gen guys with quite a few LS1s.

What were you shifting at? And you said the first run was with your traction control on? Were you doing any kind of a burnout? Did you drive around the water box or through it? How did you launch?
Just trying to see if there are any little things that can help you out...
99TAW6CONVERTIBLE

yea the ct was on for the first run and some others as well, bein a newbie I did a burn out and was in the water even tho i have street tire's on(dumm ass i know now)the car shifts at 6000 rpm when it shifts it's self.......i was do'ing about the same maybee a bit less. with the lauch I tryd a few things again but for the most part it was about 2500 rpm brake launch.
what do you think about those 60 times? thanks for your help.

I think that 2.25 isn't too bad compared to what a lot of 6spd LS1 friends get on street tires on the same track. The 2.40-2.52 ones aren't great though. You are definately leaving some on the table. Driving around the water box next time and then just quickly scubbing them to get the debris off may be the way to go for next time out.
Check with a few other LS1 guys - see where they shit at. You might pick up some by revving it out a bit more. You said that your tranny doesn't shift properly - how many kms are on you car?
Also, what gears do you have?
99TAW6CONVERTIBLE
09-12-2005, 11:44 AM
km's are 160,000
gears are 3.23
still have one wheel peel .....this cant be helping my hole shot
transamtom
09-20-2005, 07:41 AM
A 6 speed should have 3.42 rear gears.
A4's came with 3.23's
Sounds like the posi is shot, they are cheap and plentiful.

Looking at the corrected numbers, your 60-ft. times, and your tranny and differential issues, I'd say your car is plenty quick.
Despite your initial results, disengaging the traction control is the way to go.
Don't mat the pedal right away; ease into it to avoid wheelspin (and the conditions under which TC would kick in).
