View Full Version : At what point should you 'Hardblock' the Lt1?

I'm still getting the bit n' pieces for the T76 install this summer but I started wondering if it would be necessary or advisable to run about half a block of HardBlock to strengthen the block. I plan is to end up with approx 600 Rear wheel hp with the T76. The motor is a 383 LT1 and at the point of assembly will have forged crank, forged rods and -23 cc forged pistons(Diamond) and Hellfire rings. I currently have 6" H-Beam rods but I may have to go to the 5.7 with a turbo piston. I still have to confer with the piston vendor to know for sure.

600 hp on your 383 is not, in my opinion, enough to justify doing a half or full fill. If your going to use it as a DD then you dont want to run either, do to temp issues you may have.

yea were going to runn it in a 25.2 impala that we are building for 10.5 outlaw racing. we were going to try to break ricks record for fastest lt1 stock block.

but it ended up going in that street driven impala. the guy will be racing it in outlaw dragradial later this year.
