Alright, im thinking about the bottle, but ive heard some horror stories, and also some fun stories. I want to keep my car as long as i can. I dont really wanna go BIG, but just something to add alittle boost when i need it. I guess what im trying to say, is it worth it and if so whats some good choices on an LS1?

There is a potential risk of engine failure with any power adder, and as with any power adder it's important to tune the car for the application.
IMO, if you have the car professionally tuned, and don't go spray crazy, you will be fine for a few years.

just hook up a 500 shot. your ls1 can handle it.
or use the search function

my statement to those that complain about it:
if bottles are for babies, then why are you the one crying about it???

First build the actual CAR to be bada$$, internally and whatnot. Then, if you still want to be bottle fed, I say go for it.

id say what fusion said! unless you only wanna spray like a 75 shot. then just hit the bottle but not too hard. and like grims said. TUNE!

I watched an interesting episode of horsepower tv last weekend. They talked to Gale Banks of Banks Engineering - the guy who went 289 mph on pump gas in a '90 GTA at Bonneville. His opinion of nitrous is something like this -
"Nitrous is a drag race tool - it's okay, if you live your life in seven seconds. My advice to people who want nitrous is to get a better job and supercharge the damn thing. Then if you still want more, get nitrous." :roflmao:

Bottles are for babies. But IMO it really only applies to ****in import drivers. The put a 150 shot on and think they can beat anyone. But if you put the kit on and all the associated saftey and tuning equipment that goes with it then no, there not for babies. And i also hate hearing people say well your cheatin, or i'll run you with out it. that's when i say, i'll run without it if you unplug 2 cylinders, run what you brung bitch!

If its done correctly I don't see why nitrous is anymore dangerous than any other form of power. Cylinder pressure is cylinder pressure. But if you push weak parts (aka stock bottom end) they will break. But don't blame the nitrous. I don't see why a 75-100 shot would hurt a stock bottom end.
I know a guy that ran a 175 shot on a stock 120k bottom end for a long time. It died because his electric water pump went out and it over heated. It only blew a head gasket but he decided to build a badass 383 instead of just fixing the head gasket.
