just a dumb question, but since you don't have your key FOB how do you know that its your car alarm?

Because when i stick the key in the ignition, the security light starts blinking and so do all of the lights, and the horn starts honking

Find the fuse for the alarm system and disable it. If all else fails, consult your local GM dealership.

i lock my car all the time, but the trick is when ur gunna go somewhere, u unlock it with the key then turn the car on real quick before the alarm goes off, but this time right when i put the key in the ignition the alarm went off and it wont let me start it, i read on shbox.com that the pellet on the key being worn down could make it so the key is not sending the signal to crank. so tomarrow i am going to go get a new key from the dealership.

Would the alarm system be tied into the Pass Key II box causing it not to start. Since Its a factory job, you would think it has something to do with the pass key box which will grounds the starter so it will turn over and pulse the injectors in order for it to run. Maybe i'm just reading into it a little to far, I've never pulled down a car with an alamr on it before :dontknow:

Yes they are linked CKJ. Try cleaning the key with a q-tip and some alcohol first to see it works. Also go back to shbox and look up the 4th gen manual. You can disable that function and there are a bunch of other things you can turn on or off. Also get a new fob and i will tell you how to program it to your car.

If your keys security chip is worn you should definately get a new one. It takes alot to wear them down but when they are worn, they are useless. Try a new key and if that doesn't work follow what slow6 said.

I have one from when i bought the car but it wasnt programed to the car, so i bought a new battery for it and i used the instructions from shbox.com but i didnt work, all the steps worked except for the last one, then i read from another site that if ur headlight motors dont work, then it wont let u program the key fob to the car. oh and i already tried to clean the key, it still didnt work. Does anyone no how much a new key would be.

Why do the headlight motors affect so much!?!? Its crazy I tell you!!!

The new ignition key shouldn't be no more than $10 its been a while since i've seen a bill for an ignition key. Having a door key cut by your VIN costs 5.25 though :coffee: Try buying 3 of them and realizing that somebody changed the lock cylinders
