I don't know if you've read my new member intro yet, but the lowdown...93-97 lt1 m6 is in my future real soon. I'm trying to do research to get a plan for how I want to build it. Basically a stroked lt1 (355 or 383;all forged) that'll get me 400rwhp and be very streetable and on top of that a 100-150hp shot of nitrous is what I have so far. I plan on getting an lt1 block and having it built.

So my question is, what is it that I can do right now on my fbody to be able to support the type of engine I want (i.e. suspension, rear end, gears, clutch, etc.).

I've been doing research for about 6 weeks now, on here and other sites and I'd like to know where I should start. Thanks

Well, the factory 10 bolt is weak, you can break it bone stock on street tires if you wanted to. But a 12 bolt is close to 2300 while a Strange S60 is 2100. I'd personally run the 10 bolt untill she blew on you.

Suspension, Lower control arms and relocation brackets for 6 speeds, subframe connectors, torque arm, panhard rod just for traction purposes. Lightweight components are upper and lower A-arms, k-member, trans tunnel brace

I'm not to familiar with clutches but I know Mcloed is a good clutch that offers some great holding power.

Hope this helps! And good luck with the build

definetly try to save up for a new rear.

you will also need a good flowing exhaust. some longtubes, catted y (or dumped duals), and a good catback.

I'm going to bump this and hopefully get more replies over the weekend

How much money do you have to work with? Are you doing the work yourself or having a shop do it? Building a car gets expensive. Do you plan to do it in stages?

Just saying you're buying a car and modding it gives us nothing to go off. Similar to a story, you need to build your outline first.

I do plan on spending money on this car, up to $10k, and I'll have a shop be doing the engine work, but whatever can be bolted on wherever on the car I hope to be doing it. I understand a car can get expensive, but I do plan on doing it in stages. A separate block will be used to start the engine stroke/build and while that is happening I can start the build of the other components and still be able to drive it. The funds will be available, but I would need to drive my car while the engine is being built.

I'm using the replies here to help with my build outline and Chris has helped me out a lot with the suspension part of my outline.
