Custom Painted Trans Am tail panels for sale:

I am offering my custom painted tail panels for sale because I (like many firebird/TA owners) am annoyed that GM can't put decent paint on their tail panels to begin with. So I went ahead and created a solution.

When I do these panels, I take faded TA and Firebird tail panels, strip the finish, then apply multi-stage dupont lacquers for the new finish. The panel is then wet-sanded and polished. I don't go crazy with wet-sanding, but I make sure all the imperfections are removed from the finish.

My first few panels were painted using black lacquer that matched the factory GM black used on f-bodies. I have since switched to matching the panels to the taillights instead.

I can do just about any color combination, and many different designs. The entire panel face is clearcoated, so it will never fade or "wear off" like the GM panels do. It can also be polished and waxed just like the paint on your car.

It's not real easy to get ahold of these panels to start with, so i'm offering a "core exchange" price. I will send you the new panel, then you send me your old one. If you really want to keep your old panel, You can pay the "straight buy" price. Here's the price summary:

Single-color panels:
Panel Exchange: $80 (plus your old tail panel)
Straight buy: $110

Two-color panels:
Panel Exchange: $95 (plus your old tail panel)
Straight buy: $125

ALL PRICES INCLUDE SHIPPING to the continental US.

If you consider that replacement GM panels (the ones that fade within two years) go for $115, then this is a great deal.

PM me or Email at Shadow248@juno.com with questions or oders.

PICS...the first pic is Silver Chameleon paint, the second pic is arctic white and the third is bright red...the fourth pic is an example of a "two-color" overlay panel.

The silver panel has a "chameleon" silver metallic paint. In nuetral light, It's plain metallic silver, but when hit with direct sunlight it reflects red, orange, green, blue, and purple.

I haven't established a set time frame. Like I said, i'm just doing this as a side hobby of sorts. I happen to be a very good painter, so I figured i'd put my skill to good use and offer something we all wish we could get but so far no on else has offered. All paints used are premium automotive quality lacquers and enamels, and the panels are painted the exact same way your car is, so there's no reason they shouldn't last as long (probably longer, considering GM's paint rep) as the paint on your car. I do stand by my product, and i'm a very reasonable guy, so if there's any problems with the paint that obviously shouldn't be, i'll gladly take care of it. I've done close to 20 of these in the time i've been offering them on other sites, and the only problem I ran into was one panel that UPS damaged. I took care of the claim for the customer, and in fact i'm still waiting for UPS to pay me. But i paid for him to ship it back to me, I re-finished it, and then shipped it back to him completely free of charge. I don't plan on selling my car anytime soon, and when I eventually do, it will definetly be for a new LSx powered car, so i'm not going anywhere for a long time.

Here is a link to my LS1tech trader rating page:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/traderratings.php?u=19870

Yeah I know I don't have a huge list, LS1tech charges too much for me to advertise over there, so I don't get alot of sales off that site.

This is a picture of the panel on my car, painted three years ago next month. This one is done the old way with black that matched the black paint on my car (i've since changed that as noted because it looks dumb on cars that aren't black) and the stencils used for my current panels are slightly different as you may notice from the pics.

I figured that may help a bit just to show that I have panels out there long enough to know that they last. Mine looks just as good as it did the day I painted it. Just polish it once or twice a year when you polish your car, and it will look just as good (or maybe better depending on your paint) as the rest of your car.

And to think I wasted $15 on a sticker!

Well when that sticker dries up and starts cracking and peeling, here's your permanent fix!

NEW PIC ADDED...see my first post for a pic (fourth pic down) of a two-color overlay panel. These can be done in any color combination. They take a bit longer to produce (because I only do them the right way), but as you can see the results are worth the wait.

Those look real good! And I need a new center piece bad so I'm definately interested.

Two questions:
Can you do them with the bird that comes on the 93-02's, and just to be sure can you do them in any color needed to match the car (I understand not exactly, but close)?

You mean you want the old style 80's bird like the one GM puts on the panels?! I'm sure I can do it...i'll have to check with my stencil guy to make sure he can make the stencils, I don't see why not though...just never had a request for that style bird before.

I can do JUST ABOUT any color to match the car. Black, White, Bright Red, Sebring Silver, Arctic White, Pewter. Haven't tried for Navy Blue yet (but I can see what I can find if you need it), and as for Sunset Metallic, I have a color that's real close...it's almost identical to the "Blaze Orange" from the 2006 GTO.

You will find that the color will not match your car exactly, because of things like fading and oxidation, and the fact that I can't duplicate the factory conditions in which your car was painted. It's close enough for any reasonable human being though, that's for sure.

I received my Chameleon Silver tail panel yesterday.
Excellent quality workmanship. Good packaging and prompt shipping.
A vast improvement over the old faded original factory piece.
Needless to say I am very pleased.
