What exactly does that mess up?

Mainly just your transmission. The reverse gear is really weak because it is not meant to take a lot of power.

The wheel hop can also take out your gears.

You are loading the rear gear teeth and suspension in the opposite direction of their primary design. The suspension won't be damaged, but as stated wheel hop will exacerbate a bad condition for the gears.

yea it can beat the piss out of your suspension in the rear as well. haha i used to do these in my 92 black ad white 9c1 for our race vids. wheels hop broke the rear strut and spring mount welds RIGHT clear off. it was a fun ride til that got fixed let me tell you it was like driving a trampoline.

Yeah, well my girlfriend did one on accident...:o....and I think the tranny mounts might be broken?? I hope that's it.
Stomp on the gas in forward and if you hear a banging noise or feel the bang, the congrads, you've got a broken tranny mount.
I used to go to the track on Friday, break a tranny mount, put one in before next friday, go to the track, break another one, put another one in before friday, go the track, break another one, put a 1LE in, Track, Break, Home, polyprothane mount... track home no break :) and there i stay now :coffee:

Then yay, its a tranny mount. I figure that's probably the best thing it could have broken if anything... right?
That's if that's the only thing it broke.
Do those polyprothane deals vibrate alot?

Yeah I broke something. I mean... my girlfriend broke something......................cause I didn't do it.
I went to the mechanic today, he said it wasn't tranny mounts. He said the banging and vibration in gear was because I had bad u-joints and too much play in the driveshaft... then another guy came up and told me I need a new rear end... and of course they all had to drive it separatly to give me their opinion... I don't know if they're jerking me around or not.

hahahahahah
U-joints pop, and thats when you just put the trans in forward then reverse, then forward then reverse, with your foot on the brake. You'll hear it go pop. Rears just clunk, like back the car up cutting sharp to the right, they'll go clunk like ever 1/2 rotation of the tire.
But if you put your trans in OD and mash on that beiotch... and she give a loud BANG that you can feel on the center console. Tranny Mount :werd:

Well, I have a 6 speed. And my rear does more of a flop with every turn of the tire when rolling slow. I put it in second the other day going 40 and punched it and the whole car threw back and forth. Sounded bad. Normal driving now feels like something down there isn't turning and efficiently as it had.

sounds like you might need to have your rearend rebuilt and new u-joints put in, not necessarily a new one but maybe a rebuild. freshen up everything a bit
One time I was leaving this guys house and I just did a little burnout leaving, just let the tires spin for a second (wasn't even trying to make it a good one!) well then everyone that was there was giving me crap like "ohhhh that was soo pussy." So I was over there later and after hearing all the I was like screw that! My car pussy?? HAH!!!! So I'm determined to show em a burnout from hell! I mean I was going for the gold, and I was very focused..... way too focused as I was soon to find out. So I back out of the driveway, center myself in the road, hold the brake and mash the throttle. Anybody catch the missing step there? Yeah.... I didn't until after a few seconds of smokey bliss I let off the brake a little bit to let the car do that cool slow roll while it burns em, but to my surprise the car started slowing rolling backwards. Most embarassing thing ever, I still haven't heard the end of it and it was almost a year ago now.

hahahah thats pretty funny. but it just goes to show them the nice burnout your car can do IN REVERSE! see if they can even do one like that going forward...

I think what disturbs me most about this post is the fact that a few people are actually admitting to doing this on purpose
Ever see a guy at the drag strip that was staging, accidently roll past the beams and then back up to get it staged? Then forget to put the car back into a forward gear, and launch the car in reverse? It's rather funny and kinda dangerous to for the guy in the burnout box  Larry.

You're right, Jones. I think this might be sticky material. Or atleast on some kind of list of "don'ts" somewhere.. like:
Don't get water on your opti
Don't overtighten your rockers
Don't put your car in reverse and do a 5 grand dump launch.
Then all these kids.. and their girlfrieds.. will know that its a bad idea.

You know the rules:
Rule #1: Don't do anything stupid.
Rule #2: If you ignore Rule #1, have somebody to blame handy.

I could sticky it, but i'm not 100% sure that it is sticky material. This would fall into one IMO but its kinda in the same line as "don't run your car low on oil" its one of them things you should know not to do...but people still do :dontknow:
