FYI guys,

At the Z06 fest two weeks ago, Dave Hill, Corvette program manager, told us that they would begin building customer cars the following week, with customer delivery #1 taking place the 2nd week of September.

There is a fleet of about 20 cars that driveline engineers are thrashing around the country in, to shake out any final kinks before production. I saw two of them on I-71 this past week between Cincinnati and Louisville. both had MI plates, which would make sense.

Oh, BTW, my first post here, I saw this thread from the z06vette.com where I hang out and thought I would tell you what I knew.

Yeah I see a few C6's a month. If I see a couple C6 Z06's a year I'll be happy.

I've seen probably 3 dozen C6's so far. It helps that I also attend Corvette shows so I have an unfair advantage. :engarde: :grin2:

We were the FIRST customers IN THE WORLD to watch their C6 Z06 be produced at the plant! No lie!! How cool is that?!?!
Kevin at the plant was the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet and took us on a personal tour of the plant. We did the first start and drove it off the line! It was only about 40 feet, but hey - I DROVE MY NEW C6 Z06 ! ! ! !
We got to Bowling Green around 9 PM on Monday evening for our 1:00 Tuesday appointment. Good thing we went early, as they were ahead of schedule at the plant. We received a wake-up call at 6:50 Tuesday morning from Kevin inviting us to come over NOW. We got there at 7:30 AM and followed our car through from fluid fill to first start. We didn't get done until about 11:00. Several regular tours came and went as we hung around, asked questions, and watched a bunch of other Z06's (and regular coupes and verts) get built. We saw every stage of assembly from bare single frame rails to completed cars getting water-tested. It was quite an experience. No cameras are allowed in the plant. Here's some photo's that Kevin took for us of our car:

Now we just wait for Museum Delivery.

How about we slid some denaro your way for the first C6 Z06 Dyno test? ;)

There are so many people waiting to see this and I'd like to be the first to post
the results. Think we can get hooked up as I'm sure StoleIt would volunteer to
come over and video tape it?

Neal (StoleIt) is a harmless Air Force gentleman and not a byproduct of his nickname, so no worries there. :jest: :grin2:

GM has not yet anounced a date. They are holding every 2006 at the plant. There is a meeting on the 8th during which we anticiapte a release date. I should have mine within 1-2 weeks from release date depending on museum scheduling.

It's called winter. Winter in Michigan consists of ice, snow. black ice, freezing rain, rock salt, jug head drivers, multi car accidents, or a combination of any of these.

So, if you had my car for as long as I have, you would NOT have any need for a 2nd set of tires......you would've toataled by now.

Hope this answers your question.
