GAS!!!

Maybe it's just me...and my dad, but I had to replace my fuel pump/ strainer/ fuel filter and we had so much trouble getting the gas tank out we had to cut my muffler and dual pipes off just after the pipe comes over the rear end. The gas tank still wouldnt come out easily to we had to ben the filler neck about an inch to get it to come out, then after it was back in bend it back...did I do all this the hard way or is it really this hard every time? In other news, as it was like the 3rd time being under the car since I've had it (2 or 3 months now) I found a manual cut out lol

From my experience, which is a tad foggy, most new camaro and mustang body cars have to have the exhaust dropped or pulled prior to a pump change. Sometimes the short cut isn't necessarily the best way. :wink:

DAng, when TwinTurboC5 and I pulled his pump out it was tough but it wasn't that hard... seems to me, GM needs to stop makin f bods so freakin hard to work on!!!! I had a ball changing my spark plugs!

GM's only concern is getting those cars together fast on the assembly line. They don't design them with the end user in mind that will work on his own car. Real sad that automotive manufacturers don't design their cars much like software and hardware in the computer industry is designed.

The only thing about that is though...you'd have to restart your car every hour. :lol:

Mine was a pain also.. But when i got the tank out i looked up and the previous owner decided he wanted to start cutting at the metal from inside the car to try and get to the pump.. Looks as if they got tired of doing it halfway through.. I now know where the gas smell is coming from :roll:

idiots, the previous owner of my car managed to mottom out the oil pan so many times that the bolt to change the oil was half way shaved off

Actually they need to start making them again in order to stop making them hard to work on :lol:
