Top speed in a c5/c6

Anyone have some personal bests? I also understand they use the coupe body style in the c5R program as it has a better Cd versus the FRC style.

Coupe Cd is .29, FRC Cd is .31 !

I got road blocked by the pa state police in my c4 back in 94 and handed a ticket for 148mph was not a pleasant experience! One night out with my buddy after working on my car we had the his snap on tool plugged into my 2002 ws6 looking at iat and fuel trims while I was driving, when he got this idea to see what it would do on the top end. So he switched screens to read the signal off of the vss and we headed out to of favorite section of highway. With heads/cam and 12 bolt with 4.10's it topped out at 168 at 6900 rpm in 5th would not climb anymore in 6th. I will never do it agian but man it was fun!

pegged the speedo in the SS but we dont want to hear about that,

was chuggin along like a champ at 140 in the C5 vert and had a lot more rpms to go, i wasn't going for a top end run or anything though.

man that had to suck. i topped out @ 160 on the speed limiter in my 98 formula ws6 on a stretch of I-35N, just north of hillsboro @ about 2am after I had gotten out of the field when I was still in the Army. that was an interesting experience to say the least.......pitch dark except for whatever was in the path of the headlights....whizzin by @ 160mph.

I can tell you from personal experience that a stock 99 FRC will top out well over 170mph. I did a high speed run on a 1 mile straightaway to see what each gear would do. Heres a little breakdown: (it may not be exact, but thats what i remember)

Shifting at 6k rpm, stock 3.42 gear, 6spd manual.

1st: 45mph
2nd: 70mph
3rd: 120mph
4th: 145mph
5th: 170+
6th: ?
