What do you guys think? I'm debating between twin turbos, or a 408 with nitrous. If I did twin turbos, I'd shoot for around 600rwhp max on stock bottom end. If I did the 408, it would be forged and I'd spray a big shot of nitrous. Any feedback?

If your motor is in decent shape and has no blow-by, I would use it. Don't spend the extra money just so you have more cubes. You can make just as much power and MORE with the engine you have and twins.
I would venture to say with the existing motor and 2 - 60 series turbos, you would make 650-700 easy on 10lbs. of boost.

im not liking the stock bottom end...keep the rev limiter where its at and don't get crazy with the boost and you'll be fine. make sure u get a kick ass fuel system and drop the c/r. Then you won't have to worry about blowing it up. And with your winnings from all the races buy a forged bottom end, spin that bitch up to 7k and have a blast. Oh ya safe tune.

I think either would be great, however, Jon you said you knew someone with a deal for selling your LS1... like you told me, if the price is right, then go for it. Twins will be bad ass though.... remember that dyno run? The red Z06 I think it was with TT? That thing sounded so bad ass, and the boost kicked in veyr quickly... I think you would be more happy with the TT PLUS if you ever want to go back stock, you can just pull the stuff off, fix the exaust, and you're good to go.

A lot of people are telling me to sell the block and bottom end, and just forge that. If I could run about 600-650rwhp with twins, I'd be happy. Umm, ok no I won't. I thought I'd be happy with boltons. Then I thought I'd be happy with nitrous. Then I thought I'd be happy with a blower. Now I need twin turbos. 6-650rwhp will be ok for a starting point.

I just think you should leave the option of selling the car stock... if you ever needed to sell it, you could just pull off the modifications and sell it.

That could be done quickly too... selling the 408 and then installing the LS1 back into the vette could take time... time is money... 8)

I, too, would like to see him get 30k for it. Then he could buy a new Z06 and give us his input on it. :D

Well, how about he sells it for 25K and then we get a forum sponsership to help him get a new Z06?
mySStery_machine
12-21-2004, 12:37 AM
I bet he could get 25k for it. I would also be willing to bet that we could put up a post and do 1 mile test drives for $100. I would probably pay it to drive a new Z06 for a mile. Granted it would be 1/4 mile of burnout and 3/4 mile to top speed but it would be the best mile !!

One of our venders is working on a twin turbo kit ....ON a 2003 Z06 he ran 9.88 @ big mph on the stock bottom end with et streets , the car still get high 20's mpg and could be put back to stock with no problem. Its also his wifes car...ha ha. He would not tell me the rwhp but its got to be big I would guess around the 620-640 range. Twin Turbo how the hell could you keep your screen name if you went with a 408??? Unless you turbocharged the 408 now your playing with power.

I can change my screen name to anything I want, anytime I want. Don't you worry about that.

I think he was making more of a suggestive joke than anything. As in, we would like to see you get the 408 with twins and then HAVE to change your name.
A 408 with twins would certainly kick. 8)

I know, I was just joking around saying its a whole lot easier to change my name. Btw, I think I'm going to change my name. The twin turbos aren't going to happen. I just don't have enough money right now. I think I'm going to go with the A&A version of the procharger with a p1 head unit. Should be a little better.

Hey Twin Turbo what did your 99FRC do on the spray dyno / 1/4mile ? How much did you hit it with? I have a few connections with procharger accessories if you want to change from the Ds1. I would love to have a procharger on my personal Z06 but I have way to much warranty left to make a mod of that caliber. How long did it take you to install and uninstall ? Just in case .........LOL. Thanks

I sprayed a 100 wet shot from NX. I had vararam intake and SLP Loudmouth exhaust as my only other mods. I never had it dynoed or ran it at the 1/4th, so I really don't know what it could do. All I can say is it felt fast as hell with all that added torque. I just sold the Procharger setup today. I'm on the lookout for another procharger setup now. What can you get from procharger? I may bug you for some stuff once I get another setup. I'll let you know.

I think he can get just about anything from Procharger as he is a dealer for them. Check out his web site buy clicking on the banner above.
What size model are you thinking of going with now John?

I put on the A&A D1SC kit. I need a 4.25'' pulley from ATI if someone can get me one.

wow I just read this thread I do not know how i have missed it so long, I have been debating the same question for a while except on my f-bod for my quest for the 10's I was kinda leaning toward a ls2 402 short block from sdpc with a set of afr's. Still a little weary that there has not been a way to hook up the knock sensors, but we will see. Turbo charging is an option also, but my buddy just put a turbo tech t76 single kit on his f-body and I was not that impressed with it. Installed it on a stock 50,000 mile motor in a 99 ta so I am going to see how his car holds up and performs and then go from there. He is into between the kit and fuel upgrades $8000 and he is doing the work himself. I still got time before the summer to make a decision :D
