I know that a 95 gauge cluster will plug right into a 93, but the gauges won't work because of the computer differences

Its not hard at all. A 150 will work right in the place of a 115. I can't seem to think on how to do this on a Camaro but If you were working with a TA then I could give you step by step instructions  I know both cars are different in their own ways. You could probably do a google search on it.

Cool! - Can you give those step by steps to me? I just got one myself....

I'll give you some more info on it tonight as i'll be making a trip out in a couple of minutes. But i know you'll have to take off the under dash panels on the drivers side, take off the V like bracket that holds them up, drop the steering column, take off the trim around the cluster, then just pop out the 4 9/32'nd screws and carefully try to worm your hand up to the back of the cluster from underneath and pop the clip on the back of the cluster. That is going to be the PITA part, that and trying to get the clip to go back in

If it's half the PITA that the passenger window regulator has been, still not fixed, the green hornet is in serious trouble.... I may have to e-mail Slow and see if he still has that maul:roflmao:Will I need to calibrate it?

No calibration needed. But its fairly simple. Any problems or questions, just email me at firehawk0944@yahoo.com

Hey, I was wondering about swaping speedos too.....(in my T/A sickos):roflmao:. Anyway I can find a 150 mph on ebay all day. Should I assume that if I put in my 94 T/A I won't have to calibrate it or does it depend on the year T/A the speedo came out of? Also is there a way to change the odometer reading? Replacing the 115 mph speedo would be a definite mod I would do if it wasn't a PITA!!!!!

We'll see this weekend. As far as years go, the easiest thing is to make sure that the odometer is the analog type. I don't know what all is involved with trying to go to a digital set up from analog. That what sounded like a PITA to me. A clip I will manage, though I will probably give it a nice french name or two before I'm done .
I got mine off eBay for $50, from a '95, and the mileage was in the 76K range, while my car clicked over 100K yesterday. The title stated that the mileage was exempt - I still haven't figured out just why they did that.

CKJ - do we need to disable the airbags before dropping the column? Seems like a reasonable safety precaution to me. Gotta protect the idiot while he works/struggles you know. :roflmao:

The analog idea makes sense. As far as the mileage exemption, I am pretty sure (here in WI.) the exemption applies to vehicles 10 years and older. Which is sort of cool cuz then we don't have to worry so much about making sure the mileage is reported accurately to the DMV. Would you be willing to post up about the swap process? I would really be interestd in that. Good luck!!!!

Frank - Naaah, i didn't do it when I pulled the speedometer on my 93 TA when i had the airbag in the steering wheel.

And for what its worth... I can set the odometer backwards or forwards on an analog speedo in probably... 2 minutes to any milage you want  I did a write up once and put it on my website (for people who goes through this process only like i did w/ the 150 speedo swap) I'll see if I can't find it. I know its been about 5 years since I wrote it. Or you could send it to me and i can do it for you.

Do at your own risk... Its done on a Camaro cluster...but you get the idea. Same basic principal as the TA's. And don't knock the write up... i did this about 5 years ago :-P

Okay, I can find a 96 guage cluster on ebay for next to nothing (so far) and wondered if it would be a direct swap in my 94 T/A? As in, no calibration and plug and play? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Myersfw, did you do your yet??? If so, how did it go??? Thanks.:D

I still don't have it yet - the old boy I got it from has been out of town on a family emergency of some kind, so I'm still waiting.

Cool, I was hoping you were still on line. Don't you hate waiting....... Anyway what year car did your guages come out of? I'd like a little more info on why there is no calibration needed. I guess I just want to understand how that works...thanks again!! :LS1LT1flag:

You don't have to wait - PM works very well.
I think that my cluster is coming off of a '95. My guess is that the speedo is electronically driven, rather than cable driven. The PCM knows what to do. If you change gear sets, the PCM needs calibration, so the instruments read correctly

Ahhhh, that makes sense. I think if that cluster on ebay statys at a good price I'm gonna go for it. :LS1LT1flag:

I can't help but notice that what started out as a question about swapping a 115 mph speedo for a 155 spedo became a forum about trans ams. I too own a 94 Z28 with the 115mph speedo and would also appreciate it if someone can actually answer jhny777's post. I would LOVE to change to the 155 please help
