I did it. I bought a s/c. Im deciding what to do with it. I have lower copression pistons for the stroker i can drop in. They Take it down to 10:1. My bottom end is a fully forged lunati setup, h-beams everything. Remember the motor is a 396. I will order a intercooler also. So blower guys. 2 Questions:
1) How many psi you think i can run on pump gas?
2) What else do i need to put it on my car if i so choise?
p.s. im not talking ducting or fuel i got that covered. im talking ignition setups msd, what is a good base for my timing? and so on.

Even with fully forged internals, that still seems like high compression.

You could run 10:1. I wouldn't if you are willing to go a little more on the heads. Go ahead and port em to be safe. I'm confused about the other question though. Do you have an MSD setup now? And do you have the BTM?

BTM = Boost timing module. It lets you pull up to 3 degrees in the timing to delay the boost. Helps out on the motor and makes tuning it a dream. As far as boost, I had read you were running N20 also? Not positive cause I am not a nitrous veteran, but that will probably affect how much boost you can run. I would say at 10:1 you could do 15-17 psi pretty safely not taking into consideration any N20. The motor should eat up that stuff though because it will act as a nice little cooling agent. You could for all intents and purposes go higher in boost especially if you dont mind working on those heads. It really comes down to how much power you are looking for. I would say run 12-14psi with a decent size n20 shot on there and have a nice time trying to get traction.

What size injectors are you running? I know you said you have the fuel aspect covered, I am just curious.

36's right now but going up to 42's the no2 wouldnt be staying on.

do i need and msd or just a BTM?

No, the BTM would be fine by itself. Without the nitrous, you could sit on 15psi all day long and beyond. You wont need anything else though. Intercoolers are nice to have, but certainly not necessary.

You can find it most anywhere.
http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_7_6462.htm is from MSD but you can probably get it for cheaper elsewhere. What brand S/C did you get, out of curiosity? Depending on how pressed for time you are, I can probably get my hands on a used BTM for alot cheaper (200 bucks, maybe). It just might take me a month or so.

Congrats slow .. now we will have to change yer Nickname .. i say we call ya Sideways .. any other ideas ? Oh i think with 10:1 comp ratio ya might wanna only run 8-10 MAX .. no sense in running over that all the time ..

Hey slow, i have a MSD box, it's a 6T that i'm not using. I also think you can put the module to advance and retard the timing(don't have it though). I have all the connectors so it's just plug and play for our cars. Just let me know if you are interested.

sorry i was wrong, i got on summitracing and they say it's not able to retard the timing.

OK, so the guy that bought my blown 95 T/A from me a few months back is parting it out. He is local to me and I could swing by and get the BTM off him if you decide you want it. Should be pretty cheap cause I have given him lots of parts for free in the past. Let me know if you are interested.

Maybe a pun, like 96Blow6? And you are probably right about running lower boost when not on the track. Although, I firmly believe Blow could do more than 10psi without a hitch, it is just completely uneccessary to do so. 96IliketoBlow6? 96WatchmeBlow6? 96wouldyoulikemetoBlow6?

i think snigga is deaaad on with his boost. id say 10-14 psi max. maybe want to get an electroic boost controller so you can turn it down when not on the track just for your OWN safety. i know my car will break loose up to 53 mph so im guessing yours is going to be one hell of a hard vehicle to control. with the fully forged internals AND bottom end 10:1 compressions is going to be nice! still alot of torque WITH alot of boost. if youre feeling that the comp is still too high you can do a few thingss. get biger CC pistons, get biger CC combustion chambers, or put thicker gaskets on your heads. those will all drop your compression a bit more. or you could flow them. up to you. again CONGRATS MAN! welcome to FUN of forced inducTION! get it!? nice isnt it...

Hey Zuper just to let you know that was an awsome post before. i didnt even think about the thicker head gaskets. that will make it so i have to do less on the head. This is all dependent on weather or not i put it on my car.

Its not always about how much you know. But more so about the amount of detail you have on the things you do know.
