View Full Version : help with alpine HU!

i just installed my cda-9857 and it works perfect when in tuner mode, but when i switch to cd or ipod (yes its connected right) the speakers get no power what so ever! im thinking that its some setting on the head unit i need to change. does anyone know anything? thanks!!!

Make sure the internal stereo amp setting is on...or are you using an external one?

where is your antenna lead from the radio hooked to? That would be the first thing I would check. Good luck.

I had that same unit in my Bronco for the longest time .. one of my stereo buddies was in the truck when we went out playing in the mud to get to a fishin spot ... he told me something was wrong i took it to a stereo shop .. sure enough the guy said yea someone installed it wrong .. my stereo sounded 10x times better in an hour .. i highly reccomend letting a veteran stereo junkie play with it for there hourly labor rate

Yeah my guess is you have the power antenna lead from the HU connected to the amp turn on for the factory amp. Radio on-sends 12 volts (supposed to be raising the antenna, instead powering the factory amp=sound) CD/ipod on- no 12 volts(no lower antenna, no power to factory amp= no sound)

It's easy to get those confused of you don't know and they arent labeled... Antenna lead= blue Amp turn on=blue white stripe.
