I wanted to get some info from any of the members that purchased a Dana 60 rear end. Kind of a progress report. Please post your experience with the new rear end. Good or bad...noisey or not...installation issues...whatever. Thanks

I think Grims said hes got one.

From what I've been reading about them, they are very durable, but theres a problem with the housing casting, its soft, so after a couple hard launches, they make quite a bit of noise.

That is speculation, no one has actually tested the housing to rate it's strength. Mine had some issues, but Strange is taking care of them by paying a local shop to rebuild it.

Have you made any headway on that yet?

Nope, the shop is taking its sweet time arranging to get the parts from them.

Just wanted to get this post back up with the new ones. When the taxman payeth back, I may be getting my rear. I am considering the S-60. Any more info would be appreciated. Otherwise I may go F%@D. Grims, did your S-60 have swaybar mounts already welded? Thanks

I've installed a few at work. One customer says his has a whine between 45-60 mph and the goes away. Only complaint I've ever seen comback was one customer didn't like how tight the posi unit was. So I had the joy of swapping it to a different one. Holy hell are those carriers heavy. Everyone that's had one has loved it though and they don't seem to leak like the 12 bolts like to do

The posi loosens up a ton over the first month.

I've had mine about a month. It's awesome.Built very strong.Get the aluminum cover.I got the chrome and don't like it.It whines a little, that's to be expected.I don't expect my car to drive like a caddy. So far, so good.I'd buy it again.
