I think someone needs a manual trans driving lesson
Congrats on the LS1 6 speed,,,I was looking at the time I picked up my LT1 6 speed,,,I just couldn't beat the bang for the buck that LT1's offered, and LS1's didn't show any signs of prices coming down to more reasonable levels, I just wasn't willing to pay twice the money for basically the same car with a different engine, so I gave up the search.
6 speed is the way to go, one of the best manual transmissions offered from the factory to date so far,,,good choice  Larry.

Thats alot of miles to me but still not bad for a 99 though. Wish I could come accross a deal like that Larry.

STICK FOR THE WIN. I drove an auto as my DD in my Z71. I went through 4 in a years time.
When I decided to get my Z it had to be a manual for the autoX/Roadcourse and added durabitly. Here I am a few months later and I have NO 2nd gear. I broke it at the track. Im sure I didnt do all of it cause after a few repairs ive done i realized the tool before me kinda neglected the car, but she in good hands now.

 yo dude, sure ls1 has a litte more juice, my 95 z28 has a blown motor now and i'm considering doing a swap for an ls1, lots of people say it's the best way to go but i gave many ss's a run for the money, what i don't like about the lt1 is that is so d... hard to work on... other than that it rules

i agree with ONEKEY i drove a couple ls1 cars and the lt1 6 speed 'bird i have would outrun both of them believe it or not and the ls1 cars had way under 100k miles

Man Talover, you must have gotten ahold of a couple of sick running LS1's. I just recently purchased an LS1 02 SS with an auto, all stock,, and it flat murders my LT1 6 speed camaro. I like my LT1, they are cheap and great bang for the buck, but that LS1 is a sweet motor thats hard to beat.

Ya I agree with ya onekey,,,LT1's are a pain to work on,,,,regular maintainance is all thats needed most of the time,,,but even tuneups are a pain. Just spark plugs alone are an all day affair. Caps and rotors are no walk in the park either. Nothing is terrible, just time consuming.
After tuning up the LT1 and then tuning up my new LS1, sheeeesh it's night and day. No cap and rotor to worry about, plugs and wires are a breeze, did both of those in about 40 minutes.
If you are in need of a motor change for your LT1 and are contemplating swapping to an LS1,,,,it's a major swap with cross members and many other changes needed, but if you have the means and the parts to do it,,,I don't think you will ever look back.
That kind of swap would make a great sticky. Larry.
