Where do you guys shift at? There are many a theory on shift points, where, etc and different philosophies based on HP, torque etc. That combined w/ converter flash and how it related to the 1/4 mile.

So... talk amongst your selves.

I shift at 6900. I could spin it to 7200 and still be making power, but only a few hp. Not worth blowing something up for 4 hp.

I shifted my new motor at 6200, 6000, and 5800 on the weekend and made the same mph (113) each time. Might as well shift it short, save the motor, and let the torque do the work.

6700 here. I was shifting at 6500, but 6700 provided slightly better results. Sometimes I wonder if I should go back down to around 6500 though, that slight improvement could be causing more stress on the engine than I realize.

You're right. Several different schools of thought on shift points.

I set shift light at 200 rpms past peak power(6500)/200 rpms below limiter(6900). Works for me.

EDIT* Don't miss the shift.

My rev limiter is set at 6800 and I shift at 6500 n/a and 6200 on the spray just to keep it safe ( not running a window switch ).

I run it to 6500 N/A and on juice, with a window switch!

6400 RPM shift points, 6600 RPM limiter here. Car peaks at 6200 RPM but from 6000-6400 RPM it carries basically the same power (335rwhp) through that whole section.

Interesting too, my shift extension is 5,000-5,200 RPM and the car has over 325rwhp from 5,000+, so after I'm up and rolling the car has a pretty smooth power delivery. That makes me very excited to get to the track and see how it runs, especially compared to other 335rwhp cars in the traps due to my area under the curve.

Gotta get that LS6 intake and pulley though.

Take notes try 5500 6000 6500 I did this with mine and found I was getting the same times shifting at 5500,so save your motor, I have not been to the track since I did a bunch of mods but not it feels like we are pulling hard through 7000 now, but that is in the big bang range.
