id definitley get the trans rebuilt when you get the converter installed. id go with a lock up 3600 rpm. depends on how you drive it (daily driver? occasional strip? pure strip?) etc. i wish i could help out more, i dont know that much yet, still in the learning process via the guys on this site!

Don't be afraid of a higher stall converter - especially if its a lock up. You might not need any tranny work right now if its working OK for you but be sure to put a good sized transmission cooler in at the same time. Higher stalls cause more heat and that is the #1 killer of transmissions.

Good luck!

Always go 200 rpm more on stall speed than you think you want.

Well 2400 will be alright, but if you do so engine work you might want to go with a higher stall. 2800 would work very well.

If I were you I would not go any lower than 2800. Just make sure you get a locking one. I didnt specify when I had my shop install it.....got a non locking....I knew that price was too good to be true.

Personally I would consider a 3500 stall and i would get the tranny at the same time , Thats alottta miles and its easier and less fustrating to do it jow than wait till it dies after you have some of your mods or the old tranny trashes the new converter,
We have some very good deals on trans and converter combos on our site ,
Remember the transmission is the foundation

If your tranny has than many miles on it and your gonna run it hard with a high converter do your self a favor now and rebuild it!

Next, if your spraying nitrous you need a special converter it will specify if it is or isnt

NEXT! 126,000 on a motor would mean watch your self with NOS and heads man...new heads on an old motor arent always a good idea, honestly with the money your thinking about spending you might as well get a build engine with matching heads/cam/intake

NOS BREAKS STUFF!

lol hope it helped a lil

if you have street tires your gonna need radials

once you get radials keep the stall in the 3,000's
