Hi, I've recently finished developing a hand-held PCM programmer for OBD1 LT1 (1994-1995), and I'm looking for people that are interested in trying it out.

Today, if you order a program from somebody like PCMFORLESS, they require you to remove the PCM from your car, and mail it in, or do a PCM exchange program. Either way, there is additional expense and hassle because you have to remove the PCM from the car, and swap it.

To solve this problem, we developed the GT Tuner, which is a portable hand-held device that can be used to reprogram your PCM through the diagnostic connector under the dash. It's like a PP3, but we can load a custom program from any PCM tuner on it. Instead of mailing your PCM in, we mail the GT Tuner to you, with instructions, and a pre-paid return shipping label. GT Tuner saves your factory programming, downloads the new program, and double checks to make sure everything downloaded correctly. After you're finished, you put GT Tuner back in the box, attach the label, and send it back. When we receive the GT Tuner back, we will email you the electronic copy of your factory programming. If you need to restore it later, we can assist with that.We are looking for people that would like to try this product out and give us feedback.

If you have been thinking about getting custom programming for your 1994/1995 car from a reputable mail-order PCM tuner like PCMFORLESS, and you'd like to be the first to try this slick product, please reply to this thread, or send me a PM on the forums.

PS - I've almost finished with the 1996-1997 LT1 version of the product also. Let me know if you want to be on the list to try it.

interesting, let me read more about this on your site but I am looking for LT1 OBDII tuning abilities, plus the LSx series...

Great! Feel free to send me email, too. I will work on 99-04 LSx after I get LT1 OBDII done. My rough guess is I'll have LSx working around New Year time.

It would be great to have another LT1 OBD II programmer. LT1Edit has absolutely no support, and no competition. Keep us posted.

That's what I keep hearing, also. Right now, the device simply functions strictly as a delivery device for custom PCM programming, but I would like to add features to allow the customer to fine-tune the program also. Things like spark advance, fueling and shift tables. This kind of thing would not be terribly difficult, as the device has a fairly good sized, full color touch screen and fairly impressive processing capabilities.

The beta test has been concluded, but we are offering the service at an introductory price now. Per the forum rules, I cannot post details of the offering directly because I'm not a sponsoring member (yet) but you can visit the site for more details.

So, lemme see what your saying here. You have developed this hand held programmer that you send programs down on in the hand held devices. All you have to do is wait for it to get there, plug it into your Diagnostic port and hit some buttons and viola?

I've got LT1 Edit, a laptop and all the necessary cables that allows me to hook up to my PCM.. I really don't see where that would be any easier for me. Maybe thats just because I bought the stuff. I can download my programs from the programmer and install them. And if i feel as if anything needs to be changed I don't have to wait so many days before its addressed. I don't know, i guess its just not for me. :werd:

Yes, that's right. No disassembly required. No PCM swap needed. But what if you could do all your tuning on a hand-held? Would that be interesting? ;-) (Probably not, because you already bought LT1EDIT)

I admit, I don't have a very compelling offering for people that want to do their own programming, yet. The product as it is today is designed to serve customers that want custom programming, but don't want to invest in the software/hardware to do it (and don't want to have to mess with the PCM). And, a lot of people have already purchased the software/hardware to do this for LT1 (especially OBD1).

When support for the Gen-III(LS1, trucks, etc) is working, it may be of more interest because the tuning tools are much more expensive today. I have the initial LS1 support working now, but it's not well-tested yet (I will run a beta program for this, too).

But I am also considering adding tuning capabilities to it. Imagine being able to use this to get a custom program AND fine-tune AFR/Timing/Anything else you can think of. This is down the road stuff though. My first priority is to get the Gen-III working, then Gen-IV, then maybe Vortec.

I Beta tested one for Vince and it was a great system. From when I got the box in the mail it was about 7 minutes before I was putting the tuner back in the box to put back in the mail, with a fresh tune on my car. He also went ahead and deleted the skip-shift, set my fan temp for my thermo, and deleted some emmisions stuff for later that I asked him to.

Very good customer service, he worked with me the whole way.
Like he said, if you already have LT1edit and tune yourself, it might not be the most compelling offering as of right now, but otherwise I'd advise that you try it out.

Thanks for the feedback, taillights. I just became a sponsor for this forum, and posted info about the launch of my LT1 programming service in the Vendor Alley section. Glad to be a part of the community.
