Since I bought the car, I have had only had one set of keys, and only the unlock button worked on my remote. Since the dealer told me it would cost about $150 to get a new remote and set of keys, I wasn't going to do that. Well, a couple weeks ago, I dropped my remote, and it gave up the ghost for the last time. So, I started looking around, found instructions on how to program it on the internet and found a remote on ebay that cost me $24 including shipping. My first attempt was unsuccessful, so I took a closer look and relaized I was using the wrong type of battery. I had a 2025 and needed a 2032. Once that was sorted out, it was a quick, easy process, and I was actually able to get my original remote to work fully :) Now I just need to measure the resistance on my key's chip and get a replacement, and I'll have 2 complete sets of keys. This was so simple, I can't believe I even thought about paying the dealer to do it. It's nice to know that at least something on these cars is simple to do. Anyway, not a major deal, but it fixes one of those small and annoying quirks that every car has to deal with. The page I got the info from has several other great articles and can be found here: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#Dal_and_Jason

I found instructions to reprogram the remotes in the factory manual for the car. When I bought mine it only came with one set of keys and one remote. I picked up another remote at the dealer (which comes with the battery all ready installed) and read the factory manual in the glove box, worked flawless.
For keys I just went back to the dealer, they read the key and cut a new one on the spot, and it didn't cost that much. Larry.

I thought that the fob had to be flashed by the dealer computer and they had to do both key fob at the same time?

Naaa, you can program the remotes yourself. It's been a while since I did mine but it requires pulling one of the fuses and holding a button for a certain length of time etc....can't remember all the details but it is right in the factory owners manual, step by step,,,,it's easy to do. Larry.
