With the pending H/C engine update in a couple of weeks. I think it's time to upgrade the front brakes with a big brake kit. I have put together a C5 upgrade kit for only $700 total. The parts are:
UMI conversion brackets.
ZO6 front Calipers.
Satisfied Grand Sport GS6 Ceramic high performance pads.
ATE Slotted Rotors

This kit is less than half the cost of a Baer big brake kit and will really do the job. Can't wait till I finish this one.

Sounds awesome here is my question though .. will those brackets fir the new 07 ZO6 Brakes ? has anyone else seen those things .. looks like they could stop a train .. Pretty sure 6 piston calipers up front .. 4's out back -- Thats B_R_A_K_E_S:werd:

As far as I know, the UMI brackets are for C5 calipers and rotors. FYI C5 and late model 4th gen F-Bodies do not have the same calipers. Our calipers are actually C4 calipers not C5 calipers.

The answer is YES, provided you run 18" wheels. The mounting points for the calipers are identical to the C5 stuff, so the UMI brackets work just fine with the new Z06 stuff.

Thanks for the info Chris. I found two Corvette shops that sell the 06' ZO6 brake kits, they are $1900- $2400. That's still cheaper than a Brembo Big Brake kit and you have to have at least a 19" wheel to make the ZO6 brake kit work.

I have the C5 Z06 setup just like you are doing..though I have the old "Bob Bishop" designed brackets. I think you'll love the improvement...best bang for the buck upgrade out there IMO.

If I had it to do over again I would have bought 18" wheels though, so I could run the C6 Z06 brakes.

The C6 ZO6 calipers require a 19" wheel in the front to clear that massive caliper. Cost is also prohibative right now at between $1900 and $2400 depending on the kit contents. By the way, I'm planning a move to the Bowling Green area in the near future!

Actually they require an 18" wheel. The Z06 has 18's up front and 19's out back.

Actually you are absolutely correct! My bad! But the C6 ZO6 Calipers are out of sight as far as price goes. Give it a couple of years and they may become a reasonably priced upgrade.

100 more hp...

I accidentally ran accross my Bear rep today and he gave me an Erradispeed big brake kit for manufactures cost, so I couldn't turn him down could I.
