I have an Lt1 with a vortech-SQ supercharger running 6lbs. I was lookin towards running some nitrous. Would a 100 shot be ok or ar there some things I need to change out, or would it just not be a good idea to run nitrous with the SC on there.

What have you done to the engine?

Nothing to the engine itself. Just the blower, every bolt-on possible, auxillary fuel pump, MSD ignition and boost retard and wiring and such. But no internal work or anything.

Then my guess would be is you're already pushing your luck.

Nitrous and boost are very hard to tune correctly, because cylinder pressures are astronomical. Id say on a stock shortblock you would be on borrowed time if you tried to run a 100 shot with boost. Most boost guys only go 50-75 HP just to cool the intake charge down a bit. Nitrous has a much more noticable effect in boosted motors because of its cooling property.

yea, watch out... 8 psi max boost on a stock lt1 before itll go boom.

Then you can blow your blown engine :D

So are you saying I could go with a 50 shot and not be much worse off than I am now? Or would it just be a better idea to forget about it? I am not dying to be making more power, thats what the twin turbo LS1 is for, I was just wondering if it could be done without a huge adverse effect.

If it were me, id ditch the idea all together until you get a good forged shortblock under it, or you have the cabbage saved up to by one when it goes away.

If you really want to run nitrous, or you have a money race or something you need to get an upper hand with, You will be pleased with a little 50 shot on boost, and it will be alot easier to tune for. Id probably go with a wet kit and make certain the fuel side of things is waayy overkill.

other than that, buy a stronger shortblock and hit it with the nitrous on boost!

OK, stronger SB it is. I'll just wait till I blow this motor.
