My 97's dash brake warning light stays on after touching the brake 1st time after start.
The pedal feels a little soft and seems to drop closer to the floor then usual.
I've checked the fluid level - looks fine
Thought it might be a vacuum issue but the hose to the booster also looks fine.
What should I be looking for.

I was being sarcastic. I'm not real sure how the brake light is triggerd with these cars, but I would look into if there is some kind of switch that turns the brake lights on/off, it could be going bad.

O.K. I was paying more attention to the concerned wife then the fluid level when I checked it the first time. It was low. I've filled it to the bottom of the filler enck as indicated by the cap and the damn light still wont turn off. I've bled the system and as expected no sign of air, then as a hail Mary play I diconnected the battery to "reset the system" also with no effect.

Sorry, I misread your first post that it's the dash warning light, not the brake light's, if you havn't gotten it figered out by tuesday, I will ask about it in my brake systems class on tuesday, and let you know what my teacher says.

My teacher said, you could have possibly got air in the system while the fluid was low, so try bleeding the system to get the out, and also there is some kind of valve in the system that has to be "centered", so if the only the front or back of the reservoir was low, then the valve has to be recentered.
To recenter the valve, if the back of the reservoir was low, then crack open the bleeder valves on the front calipers, then apply the brakes until the light goes off, and visversa if the front was low.

Hey! Just wondering if you got the brake warning light to go off? My 96 Z28 just had the same thing happen to it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Tom in BG KY
