Maybe it's time to swap out the factory speakers. Sometimes a new head unit will make the factory speakers sound like crap. Unless you've already done this. The factory stuff sucks when any type of power is put to them.

Where did you buy the CD mounting piece -- like the dash piece for the CD player -- the one I have sticks out and looks terrible.
Also, are there other wires you need to hookup or devices you have to add to make everything sound good? I installed a new CD player in my car and it sounds like shit!!
Sorry to threadjack -- the setup look soooo good though which is why I am asking because I am jealous and want the same thing!

Well the speakers where always strong with the OEM unit so I would assume they would sound better with a new head unit...
I don't have the cash right now to upgrade anything...

If it doesn't sound as loud, it could be an ohmage issue, but not sure what system you have, so hard to say. When I originally upgraded the HU, I hooked it up via the Monsoon amp, and it sounded OK, but still didn't have any real volume despite 60wx4 HU.
If you are running strictly off the HU, you don't have enough power to drive those 10 speakers b/c you are splitting the signal (not good). Again, I need more information, but feel free to ask DJ on:

We'll be leaving for Atlanta tomorrow a.m. and won't be back til next Tuesday, but other Mods can probably assist you. It isn't a busy forum, but F-body specific for car audio questions.

I'm guessing it has to do with a lack of power. Maybe I just need some more budget pieces to make the quality better. Thanks for the link!

Is the 10 speaker system automatically the Monsoon system? Or am I missing something...I figured it would say Monsoon somewhere in the car...I guess I am just being dumb...sorry everyone...I feel bad for not knowing specifically...

Don't misunderstand me, the Monsoon is an adequate music system for the average person, but just remember that the speakers are still "made in mexico" paper cone woofers. Unless you plan on purchasing a German or Swedish vehicle, don't expect a hi-end system! Heck, I wouldn't even opt out for an upgraded stereo system in a domestic.
Then again, I am a audiophile addict! (lol)
Yes, the 10-speaker system is part of the Monsoon if I remember correctly, but you could get the 6-speaker system in the 1996 models(w/o rear hatch speakers). I had that in my 1996 Bird, and HAD the Monsoon in my 2002.
Neither one satisfied my thirst for sound quality, but w/muscle cars, most people care more about speed!

Yeah, I think I might just change my focus after I have an installation shop take a look at my setup. CAI next!

Unless you're like me and want the best of both worlds, but it comes at a HIGH price. The more weight you add, the more ponies and upgraded suspension you'll need!
I'll never win a heads up race, but I'll still be a 12 sec car when finished with this vehicle! Show, Go, and Sound are my objectives!
