Hello everyone,

I am new to all of this. I was finally able to get me a automatic 89 350 tpi gta!!! I want it to run mid to low 12s. Below is a list of parts i have been rounding up. My question is will this combo run in the 12s and what kind of hp you think it will put out. Also if anyone has any sugestions on anything else i may need or should get please speak up.

Tpis mini ram
Tpis fuel rail kit
zz9 cam
trick flow 23* heads
headman longtubes
3" exhaust no cats flowmaster
3000 stall
58mm throttle body
1.6 crane roller rockers
full msd ignition

Welcome to the board.

I am not TPI expert but that seems like a wierd cam at: 700-136212/226.483/.520.515/.554112degZZ9 Cam

I am not sure that'll be enough cam to go low 12s NA. With such a wide spread on I/E though it would be a good N20 cam!

Also, what about gears and sticky tires?

Hmmm.... seems like a good start. I'd personally skip the flowmasters, but that's personal preference. Don't skimp on the converter!! Spend the money for a vig or yank, they are well worth the money. I also wouldn't commit to 1.6 rr until you decide on a cam, or, be sure you take them into account when choosing a cam.

Are you burning your own chips or are you bringing it to get dyno tuned?

I dindnt know if i was gonnaa need a chip or not. Do you recomend a mail order chip or dyno tune and chip? The cam i got is the zz9 from tpis. The gears i will be installing are 3.73.

That combo will get you there, but it's not gonna be cheap. Switch the miniram for a stealthram and you will save about $400 bucks.

All of this depends on if this is your daily driver, whether you have to pass emissions or not, how much you have to spend and how much of the work you are doing yourself?

This will be my daily driver "i hope" if it has good street manners. I dont have to worry about emissions and am doing all the work myself. I have cam, timing chain, heads, roller rockers and odds and end things done. Im waiting on the miniram they said its on its way.

Stay away from tpis and their chips, they are clueless.

Find yourself a handheld automotive scanner or if you have a laptop, spend the $80 for a data cable so you can log data. You will need it to send to whomever you get a chip from, either fastchips(ed wright) or fasterproms(formato) if you don't want to burn your own.

Watch out for tpis and their thermostat housing. You will have to put the intake on the car(not bolted down though) and make sure the the thermostat housing clears your serpentine belt and accessory brackets.

The fuel rail kit also gets in the way of the tps sensor, you can send it back and spend the money to buy braided lines or just bend the fuel rail so it clears the tps sensor.

That combo will get you mid 12's and low 12's with tuning.

Wow doesnt seem like tpis is all that great. I thought with the money i spent it would be a great intake with no problems.

Anyone know what size pushrods i need for trick flow heads and the zz9 cam from tpis? A local shop said 7.150 but when i put the crane gold 1.5 rockers on the bolt bottoms out. I cant get the set screw in the top to lock them. I dont know how to check to see what size i need. I need major help i dont want to f anything up.

stock length pushrods worked perfect for my old 3rd gen set up,i would suggest the hardened set though

You have to measure them and find out what you need. Get yourself an adjustable pushrod length checker.
