I just had my front roters turned and installed new pads front and back. I used a middle grade pad from O'riellys but I can't remember the name. I know alot of people use high dollar pads like the green ones among others but most people never drive nor need the braking power of high performance brake systems (Brembo, Baer, etc). What I'm getting at is the brakes don't feel very powerfull. Now granted I've changed brake pads on every car I've ever owned, 78 Camaro, 82 Trans am, 84 HO Z28, 89 RS Camaro, And my 80Trans am plus other non important cars, all of which stopped better than my current 97 Trans am. If I take my car out and try to stand on the brakes it will not try to lock up to the point where the anti-lock kicks in. It slows enough to be safe in normal every day driving but it still feels weak. I read somewere that the rubber brake lines can collapes on the inside. How common is this? Anymore ideas?

The 93-97 Brakes are woefully inadequate IMO. That's why I upgraded to the C5 front brakes. Either that or the 98-02 F-body brakes are a huge improvement.

C5 upgrades:

And what I have:

FWIW, the C5 conversion gives you the same braking power as the BAER GTP kit (same caliper in fact), for about 1/2 the cost. Plus the Baer caliper adapter braket is quite a bit more fimsy than either of these two C5 setups.

OOOOO he's right. Do yourself a favor and upgrade the front brakes. Get a caliper kit and some Brembo replacement blanks ($124/pr)and some Satisfied GT6 pads. The difference will be astounding.
