Hey All, I am brand new to this forum, but I discovered something I had to share with you LT1 fellas. I wiped my 1995 PCM while flashing with Tunercat. I did the socket thing here:
http://www.mindspring.com/~amattei/flashfix.htm
Then got a little stalled with burning the AN28F512s. My trusty old eprom programmer was a little ancient and would not work. I then did some research and found this site:
http://sandeen.net/fwfix/index.html
I got on Ebay and found one of those Pro100 Intel NICs for $3.00, a few days later It was here.
I then had a hell of a time finding the programs the site was referring to. Intel has since made much higher level tools that were much smarter. After 30 pages deep in Google, I found some old version of the "fboot.exe". I popped the old NIC in an old PC with my DOS boot disk, and well, it did not recognize my Intel AN28F512 chips.
Not to be discouraged, I opened the "fboot.exe. in a hex editor and found where the tables were stored for the Flash "Device ID" I changed the Device Id for the CAT28F512 to Intel's ID. Saved the modded program, started up the old PC, and walla, it recognized the intel chip as a catalyst! Reburnt the chips and it worked great.
So........... for less than $10.00 and my modded program, you can reburn your chips.
Here is my version of the "fboot.exe"
Hope yall spread the word!!!
