Hey wats up guys, im new to this fourm, and Im picking up a 1998 Camaro Z28 4L60E, 105k miles and its only been under 1 owner, never abused. Ive driven regular cars before and this is my first fbody and v8.

I took this car out for a test drive but i notice some things wrong, I'm not sure if these are normal, and im afriad of having a tranmission rebuild soon.

The first issue is, when shifting from Park to Drive or to Reverse in any order, the car seems to jump up 2 inches, the driveshaft makes a clank. I asked arouond, and it seemed that this is an issue in some cars, its nothing major, but it happens. Is this okay?

The tranmission makes a sound when shifting from Drive to Reverse to park. It sounds like a whine, im not sure if its metal gears stripping or wat. Anyone know if this is normal sounding?

Sounds worn out to me.
Especially with that many miles on it behind a LS1.
Go ahead and plan on replacing/rebuilding that transmission.
We have plenty of sponsors on the board that can help you with a new transmission for that car.

If you want to just rebuild it and save some cash, feel free to send me a pm.

I'd get that checked out i've had 2 4L60E transmission and the first one made a clunking noise got on it one day and broke the input shaft and messed up a planetary gear. Blah. I have a PI torque converter for sale if you want to upgrade the tranny while it's out? Thats what I always do if it breaks it's just another opportunity to be better.

The load up and clunk could just be the idle is to high particulalry if it fels lik its trying to pull pretty hard,
I would be concerned with the whie grinding sound and the milage .
If you planing on any upgrades I would strongly suggest a built unit over a stock or near stock rebuild these cars are hard on transmissions anyway
please feel free to look at what we have to offer and answer any questions,
And if you think its going out order one from us or whomever before it does , Particularly if its a daily driver, Since it really sucks to have to just get a stocker and spend the same or more money just because of time restraints
