A properly stalled auto with considerably less HP runs as good or better time than our 6 speed counter parts? The second part is why do HP calculators seem close for 6 speeds but not stalled autos? What is about the stall that makes it appear to dyno less but yet the track tells you otherwise? Are dynos a shitty tool for autos besides a/f?:dontknow:

1. 60ft time, the auto can shift faster than you can, and tq multiplication at the tires due to converter slippage.

2. You're not taking into account slippage. the higher stall speed, the more slippage. To properly dyno a high-stalled auto car, the tq converter clutch needs to be locked at WOT.

TQ multiplication (as stated b4) Is the main reason.

The STR number of a TQ converter is a indication of the TQ*M that is going on in the first .5 seconds of a run.

if a car lays down 300 RWTQ normally , then with a 2.0 STR he can see *up to* 600 RWTQ for the first half second of the run. That is one of the reasons stalled auto cars always out 60FT M6'ers... and .1 at the 60' converts to .2 at the big end (until you are going faster then 11 secs then the differance is not as much)
So basically they are 4 tenths ahead of you out of the hole and you have to make that up before you cross the traps.... That takes alot more HP and a skilled driver...

Oh i am an auto and stalled car & love it. I just like to see peoples opinions on why stall cars are so effective. Going to the track tomorrow hoping for a 1.4x 60ft and a 10.5 or lower. Best being a 10.83 on a 75 shot , tomorrow I go 150.

auto's are more consistant. No crappy shifts, no missed shifts, no varible in shifting. Also, a stalled auto's power comes on "softer" Meaning it goes from nothing to full launch less abrupt than dumping the clutch. The STR also plays a deal in how much torque the wheels see in the first .5-1 second. A friend of mine has a 2.5 str, 3000 stall and he can murder drag radials at the track(it's a roadmaster with a stock cam). But on the other hand, manuals are a riot to shift and dump.
