Like the title says.
Heres the plan, I haven't tried it yet.
Stage 1- 300hp dry
Stage 2- 200hp NXL-dp
Stage 3- 150hp NX single nozzle
Total = 650hp worth of nitrous http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_devil.gif

I should get quite a wild ride if this thing stays together.http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif
I'll post up some dyno numbers as soon as I go (in a timely manner:rolleyes: ). Hopefully tomorrow.

I've been on vaca with the wife and kid for the past week so not too much new.
I had the car at the dyno just before I left. It put down 590 off stage one, but was smoking out the breathers, so I didn't go past stage 1. I pulled the motor out that night and I have some broken rings. They have probably been broken for a while now, so I'm fixing it up and should be back at it in another week or two. I'll post up no matter what the turn-out is.

The only update I have is that the motor will be back here next week. I have a race on Sept17th that I need to get ready for. I ended up ordering some better pistons than what I had. I ordered JE extreme duty forged pistons. Once I have the motor back, I'll be back to the dyno within a few days after that.

that reminds me of the tractor pulling guys. They used to call wanting 1000 HP worth of nitrous ran through their engines

The enrichment for the dry shot is through the nitrous funtion of the accel DFI. It makes it so easy. ;)

haha:)

I spent 4 hours on the dyno last night. The base-tune was way lean, which I think probably has to do with switching from 2.5" to 3" exhaust. But none-the-less, it took about an hour to get the base dialed in.
Motor made a whopping 300hp.

Then off to stage 1- Since I'm scared now.. I pulled an additional 5 deg of timing out. This timing retard is used for all 3 stages, so its really too much for the first stage, but good for all 3. The car made just north of 500rwhp on stage 1 which had qty2- #52jets. That isn't too bad considering the amount of timing pulled. After a few pulls I got the AFR into the high 11's.
Then stage 2- Now I'm really nervous  . So fired it up and tried stage 3 out. It is set to come on at 5100rpms. Motor rpms came up with stage 1 and at 5100 rpms it stumbled then started to pull so I got out of it asap.
After looking at the AFR numbers it looked like a lean spike at stage 2start caused the stumble. So I went back to stage 1 and fattened it up a bit to mid 11's. Tried it again and that got rid of the stumble, but stage 2 was jetted way too rich. It was below 9.0:1  . I dropped 2 jet sizes on the fuel side #16's to #14's. Tried it again and it was still below 9.0:1!!!. It was 10:00 by this time and time to shut down shop. HP numbers were just shy of 600hp.
So I don't have any crazy numbers to post yet, but everything is working well so far, and needs a little more time. I'm installing an LM1 and will try to tune at the track on Friday night.
Thats it for now.

Watch out with that LM-1, it doesn't like the afr going super rich at once, it will give you an error message and you will have to cut it off and then back on to get it to read. I would test-n-tune on the highway before you hit the track to get the afr above 10:1, it will give you an error if it stays at 10:1 too long.:( :clown:

860
09-14-2006, 03:52 PM
Thanks for the advise. I haven't used an LM1 yet, and I'm definetly below 10:1 right now.

What do you do on Tuesday..??

Lifted a ring land, from running too rich now. Its tough to get the under-the-injector style nozzles dialed in. They tend to draw a vacuum under the injector pulling more fuel in. Normally its no big deal, to try a jetting for a quick second or two, log it and make changes, but with this much spray, 1 or 2 seconds is all it takes to hurt stuff.

860

Well, I should have it in the car and running this weekend. I might be able to run it this weekend, there is still quite a bit of work that still needs to be done, like actually getting the motor back in, finishing up the stand-alone fuel system, and some other things.

If a customer brought me this car, I'd refuse to work on it, but since its mine I'll roll the dice again with this set-up. :)

10-20-2006, 02:44 PM
Well,
Ran the car with no nitrous for the first time. Which is a whopping 14.9 @ 81mph!

Stage 1 brought it down to 10.8 @ 126
Stage 2- 10.3 @ 134

Since I really had my heart set on 9's, I stepped up and melted the #3 plug. Haven't taken a look at it yet, but since our track shuts down this weeek for the season, it will be on hold until April when New England Dragway opens up again.

I think he mentions in there how much each stage is worth. But for an example....in my 3500# LT1 car, 100shot was worth a second drop in ET, same day/same track but with a tire change from 26 to 28"

CamTom12
03-01-2007, 12:04 PM
Plus I think the no-n20 run was still run on the nitrous tune, which would have considerably less timing for the nitrous and much more fuel for the dry stages than a regular n/a tune. My buddy Brad's 9 second car made something like 260 at the wheels on his nitrous tune without the nitrous

93lt1z28
03-02-2007, 08:47 PM
Thats odd than....my bone stock 93 z at the 1/8th mile ran 8.50 all motor, and 7.16 with 150 shot! right the way the general made it. Stock suspension, stock motor, stock converter, tranny with shift kit,and stock 10 bolt with 4:10 gears out of an s-10. To knock 4 seconds off that time , you should be pushing at least 400 SHOT! And have a stout motor to handle that much!

93lt1z28
03-03-2007, 09:10 AM
Maybe im comming off harsh.....im not trying to. But that motor looks like it has alot of good parts on it, and should still be putting down better numbers all motor!Sorry if you think im being a jerk, im not. But there are people that visit the site for advice, or knowledge, and i wouldnt like to see them missled in any way. I guess what im saying is if someone seen those times that they would think , i can do that too. Then all they have is a pile of parts. Anyway the setup looks wild!

Snakeoil- Thanks for the PM, I haven't checked this lately.

93lt1z28- no need to appoligize, I also get irritaed with false posted info. but this is the real deal. if you know anyone who frequents New England Dragway, check with them I'm up there every week.

I'll try to answer some of these questions for everyone else.
No I didn't let off on the NA pass.
Yes the N20 took 4 seconds off my time.

Yes there are a lot of great parts on this motor, but NA its sub-300 hp. This might seem suprising, but all of the parts are for strength when spraying, callies crank, billet splayed caps, oringed block, JE extreeme duty pistons etc. None of these things realy make HP, but rather support it. The motor is 8.5:1 compression, and I only ran it on pump gas, so you can see its not a killer NA motor, really a purpose built N20 motor that can run all day long as reliable as can be on the street.

Our track is scheduled to open next week, but we just got some more snow, so I suspect it will get pushed back a week.

Now for the car update...
The bad news is, its all gone, I sold it all over the winter.
The good news is, if you though that system was sick, wait till I post pics of the new system I which is almost done on the new ride, an 05 GTO
