A had a set of Kappa 6.25I infinity's w/Kenwood amps, and they were OK for an aftermarket speaker....but all SUBJECTIVE! Didn't have enough power for me, but for the average DD, either them or the Alpine Type R's which aren't quite as good IMO.
BTW, linky no worky (lol), but do you intend on using them w/HU amp or aftermarket amps? You won't see, or should I say HEAR, the performance improvements using OEM. Will it sound better? Yes, but not optimal.

AHH try this link,,, http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='REF6010CS'&Ser=REF&Cat=COS
and the setup i'm thinkin of is to add a seperate Amp "maybe 150-200 watts" for these speakers and a H/U maybe from kenwood or someother stuff.. i'm only linkin my ipod to them so i don't care lot about the H/U

I would recommend the Kappa's over the Reference if you can swing it!
Not the Kappa Perfect's, just the Kappa's if you can locate them. Circuit City used to carry the Kappa's, but now only carry the intro level Reference series.
If you get the chance to compare the (2), you'll see my point.
Again, if you are just seeking replacement speakers, then the references should be just fine -
Major differences: freq spectrum 45-25Khz (better midbass response) vs 53-21Khz
sensitivity (eff) 95db vs 92db
Power handling is the same, but crossovers are what make the comps IMO

Seems each comp or coaxial has its' (+) and (-), but be selective and keep in mind what it sounds like in an open environment WON'T sound exactly the same in an enclosed vehicle (more deflection/absorption).
The M-sync Memphis are very good for mids/high's but lack the mid-bass response that I prefer. Again, what sounds good to you, may sound like crap to me, and vice versa. Just don't overpower the system by mismatching amps/speaker ratings. Or in other words, don't have 100w max rms speakers w/a 300w A/B amp. But don't underpower them either! Find a balance that will compliment each other.
IF you have an established budget, then operate within those boundaries. I would believe you can pickup a good set of 6.5" components between $175-$350. All depends on the level of sound you seek, and then of course, the speakers are only limited by the HU/power source you provide. HENCE, my point in "balance". The best speakers in the world will sound like chit driven by a 1/2 ass power unit. Ppl think by swapping out speakers on 4th gens and still using the Monsoon amp, it will sound like a symphony hall, when in fact, they will sound better, but overmodulate due to the limitations of the amp itself. A separate amp or hybrid amp (both a/b and D class built-in) is the way to go for those who want a small, basic w/sub capability. Just my 2cents
Initially I swapped out the speakers and installed an aftermarket HU, still utilizing the Monsoon amp. IMHO, trash the monsoon system altogether and opt out for separate components. (speakers, amps, HU)
My theory is speakers first, HU second, amp third in that priority in building a system. Any other way, is a waste of money! A $1000 HU on lousy speakers defeats the purpose, but a set of $1000 speakers on a lousy HU will still sound better than an expensive HU on crappy speakers. Just be careful on picking out "entry level" products, and go up at least one class. Circuity City and Best buy generally purchase these items on HUGE ordering volumes (high profit margins), whereas the upgraded products (slower movers), aren't conducive to those companies b/c they don't turn.
I believe that is why CC no longer carries the Kappa series!

good points..
my plan is to keep it simple, i never liked too much sound but i'm a music Freak and a player so it's a priority to get me a CLEAR sound.. i like to hear all frequencies clear and good.. and i'm a person who don't like a bunch of cd's lying around that's why i carry my ipod everywhere.. so my main thing when buyin a H/U is to have a connection with the ipod which doesn't sacrifice the quality, and i'll add front speakers for now, maybe add another 2 in the back later,, but now i only want the front.. and i'll be feeding them through a seperate amp.. i was talkin about 150-200 watts cause i wanna get something which will stay with me when upgrading to 4 speakers.. what do u think?
i'm browsing crutchfield and by the options i'm looking for (aux input in the front) i found most rates goes to sony,, but the problem i HATE SONY.. they are tooo flashy for my taste, i hate their screen and the looks.. i looked into pioneer and alpine and they made me happy.. i like how they blend in..

I had Alpine before upgrading to the Pioneer, and have always liked and possessed Alpine, but they lacked the EQ control I required.
Next system w/have the high-end Alpine or Clarion DRZ955?? If you want power, I suggest nothing less than 100w /speaker. I have my fronts/rears bi-amped w/(2) 4-channel amps, so as to have control over both the mids and tweeters. Remember, I competed w/this system, so control is everything, including the outboard parametric EQ and built-in 13 band EQ in the HU.. You sound like you are on target getting it together, so just don't rush it. I'm a head-banger from way back, so I need these 170w MBQ's and the 300w (150/channel) amps.
Eclipse is also a very good unit, especially for SPL w/the 8v preouts. Most of the newer HU's have 5+ volt preouts, and that is also an added benefit.
(lol)

If you know of any serious SQL (sound quality competitors) in your area, check out their systems. I did hear some Pioneer comps a few mos back that impressed me, but so many different types on the market w/varying $$.
All I can say is trust your ears............but I love those companies that put entry level speakers on a high-end amp/HU. Talk about deceiving, but I find it is all in the marketing of these products.
