I just got a 97 T/A with the 4L80? trans and I notice that when I put it in gear that it takes about 1-2 seconds for it to engage. The Trans seems to shift fine other than being out of sync. Are these trans. adjustable? What gears would most likely be in my car if you had to guess. The car is a basic non WS6 car. Also what would the best converter, shift kit, cooler combo be? Is there anything else I can do to help and prolong the life of this trans?

It has a 4L60E.
Gears would be either 2.73 or 3.23 depending on the option package.
The delay putting it into gear is normal. In terms of converters I like Vigilante, Yank, and Edge Racing. Transgo shift kit is the only way to go really, and any cooler will do.
Keeping heat down with a cooler is the best thing you can do for trans life. That and don't race it, LOL.
