i fixed the pinion seal leak and drove it for a few days

launched it once feathering the clutch so not much stress was put on it

now the diff is whining on decelleration in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear.

so its on its way out i suppose  147,000 miles.

also the yoke on the pinion moves (wobbles) about 1/8th of an inch if you take the DS and push up.

Sorry to hear it, but honestly I'm never suprised with these 10-bolts.

i kind of expected it sooner or later, but not this soon as i was preparing for an engine rebuild in a couple of months.

is the whining on decel bad? theres oil and LSD additive in the diff... i think it is bad.

im looking for a used 10 bolt for now with 3.42 ratio from the yards, but they dont even know if they came out of an A4 or M6 so i dont want to get anything i cant trust.

or if i can get this one rebuilt...

Sorry to hear it, but honestly I'm never suprised with these 10-bolts.

Mine's gone from a loud high pitched whine to a nice low tone growl (not the motor) Got worse last night after beating on it a little. Dana S60 here I come.

just turn the pinion and count the number of axle shaft rotations

pinion should spin 3.42 times to one of the shaft rotations
if no axle shaft, pop the cover off and make a mark on either the ring gear or diff housing
