View Full Version : Blow down tube connection
:dontknow:
I'm ordering a blow down tube through one of our sponsors and have a question about installing it.
The first thing I need to know is if I can remove the large cap nut with the bottle full or will I need to use up the contents before removing this cap nut.
Here's a picture of what I'm talking about:

Thanks for any help....
Bottle needs to be empty first.
Also, when installing the new one, Its VERY important to read the directions on how tight to make it (I believe 15ft-lbs but don't quote me kn that one). Overtightening will cause them to blow the first time you fill it.

Thanks very much! Now I understand what was going on when the bottle was being filled. The tech asked me if I had the plastic seal for the bottle. I just told him what was there is what I have. After filling he came out and told me it was a different sort of setup. Once again - :dontknow: and I wasn't allowed back in the N2O station room to know what he was talking about....
Could he have wanted to fill the bottle through the pressure safety port instead of the outlet? From which side of the valve body is the tank usually filled? Thanks again!
Still hoping to hear from someone who knows about filling these bottles. Just for curiousity sake....
He was probably refering to NOS style bottle valves. They have a plastic sealing washer on the outlet port. Your ZEX bottle dosen't use one, it has a different sealing method with the conical nickel plated brass seal.
Bottles are filled through the -4line (not the safety relief disk)

Thanks! You've got some great information to share and I appreciate the help. I'm looking forward to dealing with 860performance again once my contract has been settled. You have some items I'd like to add. It's a great thing to have you here!
