had about an hour and half left of the 7 hour trip today, all of a sudden hit a tiny bump in the road and my head unit turned off. thought it coulda been the shitty wiring the previos owner had wired it up with (twisting the wires together and then a piece of tape). then i went to pop the hatch when i got here, and the button that opens the hatch wont work. blew a fuse? which fuse? looked in the fuse box, the closest thing to radio i saw was the fuse for the A/C, which never worked in the first place. and that fuse didnt look bad. anybody got any ideas otehr than tear the dash apart because ive got 4 days until i drive home (and im gonna be really busy these 4 days) and dont wanna drive with headphones on like i ended up doing the last hour of the trip (very illegal). thanks

There is a radio fuse, on the back of your fuse panel cover, there's a diagram. You'll find which one. If not just go through each fuse indivudually.

checked the radio fuse in the side of the dash panel, looked fine, bought a new one anyways, still doesnt work. looked over the car today, things that no longer work since the radio died are the hatch button, map lights, and dome light. things that DO work are head lights, tail lights, fog lights, blinkers, power seat, guages and guage lights, cruise control, horn, and cigarette lighter. pulled apart the dash, looked at the wiring, everythings together, connections are tight,(or tight as they can be as the previous owner just twisted the wires together and put electrical tape on them), didnt see any lose wires except what is supposed to be lose (amp wire) . the car has no power windows or locks, stock speakers except the rears are out of a 95 tahoe. head unit is a aftermarket JVC tape player ready for a 6 or 10 trunk CD changer, which i also dont have. (the guy before me musta had a huge system, the wires still trailed to the trunk when bought it). everything worked perfect until yesterday.
Im tryin to give as much info as possible, maybe some of it is irrelevant tho. 94 Z28 M6 for those who dont know. its green. (thats probably irrelevant.
HELP! i dotn wanna drive 7 hours home with no radio! and i dont have a sawzall to cut off my muffler to just hear that!

Check all the accesory fuses, one of them is definetely blown. The bigger problem is why did the fuse blow? Probably a ground problem somewhere. Good luck!!

had a local dealer who i trust very much take a look at the car, found it to be a 15 amp fuse...not the radio one that i checked. $93 bucks down the drain, said they coudlnt get it to blow again, but if it does blow start hunting through the dash. (or ill just do the cheap way and keep a $2 pack of fuses in the car and replace it every time it blows!)
