Considering buying an MTX Thunder 282, on sale for $99.00 almost 1/2 price, anybody have any experience with this amp? I'm going to be using it to drive a singe MTX8000 that I bought off ebay already in a box made to fit the drivers side cutout. Also any idea's on how much of a capacitor I'll need.

I personally have always been a big fan of MTX amps. They are priced well, underrated power wise, and have never given me problems. Almost eveytime I've replace an MTX amp with someone else I went back to MTX because despite being rated the same the MTX always seemed to outperform the other brand.
I don't really see the need for a Cap for a single sub. Overkill IMO.

Hello here is my 2 cents, just recently, like in the past couple of years, MTX has been putting out great amps. A couple guys from fosgate, moved to mtx , and really stepped up the amp production. I havent had experience with that particular amp, but the few others were awesome..
A couple of things you should know,
#1. for every 500 watts you need 1/2 a fared of power.
#2. try to match the woofer's rms power to the amp's rms power .
#3. amps(as in fuse rating for amplifier) times cars voltage= wattage.
By the formula above, you should be able to figure out any amp's real watage.. Hope this might help a little

Many ppl run MTX in car audio competition, and they do provide ample power. Personally, I'm more an SQ guy, so I can only add comments regarding SPL.
Of course you could always opt for something like Mark Eldridge had in his Toyota:D

My favorite F-body system was from an Alabama competitor that was at MECA finals in 2004.....Robert Benson w/his MOJO setups
