View Full Version : Nitrous switch wire-up

Pardon my ignorance. I'm about to finish buying a nitrous kit and want to understand something about wiring it up before hand.

I think the window, rev limit, fuel pressure safety and arming switch are all inline. Meaning, if anyone one of these connections are broken, the solenoid(s) will not open or remain open.

If the above is true then are all of the above are switched on the negative side of the circuit? This of course means the solenoids have a fused positive lead always connected and it is the negative side that runs through the switches.

If you have a wired nitrous system please correct or confirm and give me some idea of how it all comes together. Thanks.

Close, All the safety devices are wired in series, so they all need to be true for the solenoids to activate. However, they can't handle the current draw from the solenoids. So they all get wired to the control relay, and the relay actually activates the solenoids.

Hi and thanks!

So then is the master arm switch a positive side connection? If so, it must have quite a large gauge wire, like #10 to feed the relay.
:confused:
The reason I ask this is my Mallory 685 with the window switch is a negative in lead. This is what makes me think the solenoids are deactivated by breaking the negative side of the circuit. If the solenoids are actually grounded through their own mounts then my theory is kaput.:dontknow:
