View Full Version : 5 or 6 speed

I need to upgrade to something w/ overdrive. I have a sbc 79 C10 w/ 3.73's and a th350. I want to convert to a 5 or 6 speed manual to help with gas mileage. Is there any kits out there that can make the conversion go smooth? Where can I find parts? How can I re-adjust my speedo for the change? I just started a new job so money isnt that big of a deal, but I dont want to go broke over this. Remember, this is a daily driver.

Any help would be appreciated.

I also have a 700r4 that needs rebuilt if that would be the cheapest, smartest option over a stick.

I think there's a bellhousing that adapts a T-56 to an SBC, or maybe one of the LT1 T-56's would work...

Not sure about how in-depth it would be, mine came 6-speed. There's a couple of guys that have swapped on f-bodies, but I think you'd be the first on this site to do it to a C10

I know that I would probably be the first to do it to a truck, rather I know it can't be 1/2 as complicated as doing a swap in a F body. Thats why I asked. But thanks!
