Cool, but still no bird. Ditch the Goat and bring back the bird.

For what? The camaro unveiling or the bird coming back. I'm skeptical as to either happening. GM has the most severe case of rectal cranial inversion I've ever seen right now.

The bird coming back. GTO is here to stay.

As for the Camaro I think we'll see a concept at the 2006 Detriot NAIAS show.

Exactly why I'm NOT happy with GM. I can understand the reasoning, but the camaro and firebird have ALWAYS been together. It's just not going to be right.

Direct from GM headsquarters "Come 2006 come to the detroit autoshow readily to look around, if that doesnt answer your question i do not know what to tell you people"

Not technically correct... the bird came 2 years later... hence why 97 was the 30th anniv for the Camaro and 99 was the 30th for the Bird... so they haven't ALWAYS... LOL :poke:

But the firebird came in 67.

Yep the Trans Am didn't come till 69.

THe two guys above me hit the nail on the head. Firebird in 67, Trans Am in 69. That's why the disparity exists between the anniversary years of the F-Body cars.

I think the reason why there is no t/a is because pontiac has the gto. Thats probobly enough.

Chevy Camaro Concept Slated for '06 Detroit Show, '09 Debut
Date Posted 08-04-2005

DETROIT ? Chevrolet plans to take the wraps off a concept Camaro at the 2006 Detroit auto show in January.

Also, Inside Line has learned the automaker is evaluating proposals to revive the classic performance-car nameplate in 2009-2010 on a new low-cost rear-wheel-drive platform.

Among the scenarios under discussion inside General Motors is the development of a lower-cost version of the Sigma rear-drive platform that underpins the Cadillac CTS and STS sedans. Another proposal would take the new rear-drive platform that's being developed in Australia for the next-generation Holden Commodore sedan and spin off a low-cost variant for North America.

GM planners are said to have targeted several body styles for the Chevy and Pontiac brands on a new rear-drive platform, including a sport sedan, a sporty coupe and a convertible. The Camaro and GTO badges could be used on those vehicles, according to company sources.

Across town, Chrysler is said to be preparing a concept Dodge Challenger for the '06 Detroit show, to test the market for a proposed two-door performance car it wants to introduce around 2008-2009 as a potential competitor to the Ford Mustang.

What this means to you: Guess it was just a matter of time and environmental awareness ? the original definition of muscle cars doesn't fit well with new perceptions of what's best for the world...could there be a "green" muscle car in our future?

That and I think GM does want to make an effort not to keep duplicating cars. If there's a Camaro, why compete with yourself with the Bird. It will then allow them to keep the GTO as an upper class M-series type car.

Although I wish they just dropped the Camaro instead and kept the Bird. :D

What the heck did they type that has anything to do with enviromental awareness? Did the author not even read his own article?

Thats the equivilant of me typing. "Red and green are really big colors this season. So what that means to you is that the mfgs have finally taken notice how blue is the new color of the future."

Better late than never. But by then I'll probably have moved on to another performance platform.

That's called the stupid liberal "activist" media.....I swear they can never resist an opportunity to inject their belief system into any article, whether it be something about 30 year mortgages or a car review......

Pray it isn't ugly as all hell is more like it with the track record of GM's styling division lately.

400hp for $33,000 isn't that expensive. Especially considering how nice the interior is.

Where do people want GM to skimp? What's least important?

Interior.

I'm fine with a plastic dash. Only thing I really need is a good driving position and halfway comfortable seats.

But see you guys that want the stripper models aren't the normal car buyers. Most buyers want cars loaded out.

Yeah I know. Fark 'em. They're the same "men" who drive SRT-4s and turbo Eclipses thinking they're hot shit.

No I don't think so. It's people who grow up to need different things. Some people get to an age or a position where driving around in say a WS6 Trans Am, is not really okay. Or they want more in a car. Years ago I always said I'd want a new bird, but with no options and not even a radio I'd put my own crap in it. Now, nope. If I'm paying money, I want as much car for my money. I want seats that last more then 30,000 miles, I want an interior that isn't a rattle trap. I don't hate GM interiors as much as some do, I think they're as good if not better then the other Big 2. But when I drive in coworkers Acuras, Lexus's and BMW's. I think wow this is nice.

Another point to the GTO being a bargain at $33, brand new WS6's and SS were hitting those prices with 100 less hp just 3 years ago. Hell I bet 5 years ago you couldn't find 400 hp for much under $100,000.

I agree with getting your money's worth, but how much can you expect with a 350-horsepower car that you can buy for $22k (or at least when they were still around). I agree with the GTO, the car is the worth the pricetag.

My difference in opinion is 40k is much all you got was a holden with a 5.7 litre badge and an ls1. Ls2 versions are better but not good. You wont find a bigger GTO fan than I and even i disowned it.
