Are all Monsoon systems created equal

Is my 97 model year monsoon sound system the same as an 01.

If the newer system is in fact better (my ears say it is) would it plug directly into the existing harness?

Would I change some components or all.

i think its the same for your year...but y go through all the trouble for a stock system??? u can buy a decent head unit for under 300 and will sound a little better

I could buy the complete Monsoon system at the local wrecking yard for under $100 and the thiefs would never give it a second look. If the newer system has a larger amp then I could swap out pieces improve sound and still not have to sleep with one eye open.
