i was planning on dropping an ls1 in my 99 xtreme this winter. i was going to mate it to a turbo 350 but would the 4l60e be able to take a good amount of torque? i was gonna do a mild cam and p&p heads and what not but i dont know if my rear end will hold up to it. how much to the wheels would i be getting if i do a chip, intake, straight pipe exhaust and long tube headers?? im just really worried about blowing a tranny or a pumpkin. thanks.

Theres quit a few factors in there. Depending on the year LS1 you might get a LS6 intake. If not that intake what are you thinking about? FAST?, Weiand? Chip is another optiong, Diablo, Hyper, etc. With LT's, straight pipe, LS6 intake, and a decent tune i would say a good 300-350rwhp through and auto. I wouldnt mate it to a th350 though but instead a th400 or a 4l60 should be fine. The th400 in some peoples opinions is a beefy 4L80E with an o/d. Assuming the s-10s come with a 10 bolt i think with some good axels you should be more than fine. my $0.02. Good Luck

The 4l60e trans is the weak point on automatic cars. A Turbo 350 would be a good alternative or if you plan on racing it a TH400. As for the rear, put a stud kit and a girdle on it and you should be okay untill you have time to save up for a new one. You know what's sad? Your S10 has a stronger rear from the factory than my Z28. As far as the power is concerned........it's all going to be in your set-up. H/C LS1's can make 380rwhp or they can make 470rwhp. It's all about what heads, what cam, what bolt-ons and so on you go with.
