bought a zex wet kit for my lt1 a few months back but kinda delaying install...would it be alright to run a 100 shot with stock internals? the car has 140k miles on it. figured the first time i tried it the rings would go. anyone have any opinions on this? also...what about the stock fuel pump? should i get a new/bigger one or will it be ok for now? like i said...its a wet nitrous kit.

Since you're not getting much action I'll throw in my opinion. I've read but not done and I'm only gathering parts at the moment. So no real time experience.

There are a lot of posts in other forums about high mile engines using N2O. None have posted that they have toasted their motors. 140k is about as high as anyone else has posted though.

A 100 shot isn't radical so altering things isn't the common recommendation. Even pulling timing isn't an issue with 100. Any higher and things start changing. Some people haven't even bothered to change plugs. The common change is to the NGK TR6 @ .035 - .038 gap.

It is a good idea to get a fuel pressure gauge to determine your pump's condition but once again, a 100 shot doesn't change things that much. A fuel pressure safety switch is a good thing to have and not expensive.

Since you have an M6 you will need a window switch. I bought the Mallory 685 Hyfire which not only has the switch but can pull timing and set a rev limit. It's advantage is that you can cut spark rather than fuel if you hit the rev limiter. You sure don't want to hit the factory rev limiter with the nitrous on as it cuts the fuel. Sorry if all of this is common knowledge to you. It's still new stuff to me....

I also agree.. Dont skimp on the pump, even for a wet kit. Once that fuel solenoid opens you essentially have a hole in your fuel line.

As for high milage motors, believe it or not, high milage motors handle nitrous better than low mile stockers, Reason being that the clearances are larger.... rings can expand more, bearings have more oil between the crank, etc.

What would change if say I went with a 125 or 150 shot?

Im not really sure what you mean, but nothing would really change as far as the advice per se...

you would be stuffing more nitrous down the motor, so the tune would be more critical, it would also be a great idea to switch to a colder plug.

I have seen 200 shots ran on 150K mile stock mustang blocks for several YEARS with no real adverse effects. (not that I would reccomend it)

Everyone said that a 100 shot doesnt change much so you didnt need anything extra, short of a tune and window switch. I was asking If one would need more parts for 150 shot?
Injectors?
Better Fuel Pump?
Anything Else?

Get one heat range colder plugs, gap them at .035

Get the biggest in tank fuel pump you can find

Injectors should be fine but will be close to their limits on a dry shot. I ran 19# injectors to about 160HP dry shot, but it was waaaay close.

As always, start out with a smaller shot and work your way up.

I have a 95 Z28 with 163,000 miles on it. I sprayed a 150 shot and it ran alright, I think you could run a 100 shot easy since its a wet shot. have fun, once you spray it will be hard not too when ya are making a pass at the track!

More info about my car to get an idea of what I have done:
Engine is stock, have some mods done like LT headers, ORY pipe, and K&N cold air.

I have the nitrous works LT1 wet kit (with colder plugs) Link: http://www.barrygrant.com/nitrous/default.aspx?page=98

I ran with a 125 shot at 12.1 ET @ 116 MPH

Then I tried the 150 shot got a 11.6 ET (MPH did not show on slip, track elec troubles - and I really wanted to know my MPH too)!

Video of run here...

oh, almost forgot - I have the MSD digital 6 and MSD blaster coil and a PCMforless tune.

Icedog, if you can, please post your 60' time. This will help determine your trap speed. No doubt you were well within the 120+ mph zone. I have to think that you were running slicks?

Your drivetrain has been undoubtedly well cared for. Oil pressure must be good. Can you post what it is at idle hot?

If you are willing, please include your car's specs in your signature. Posts like your first are exciting to read. If this is your first screen name on this forum, welcome on board.

Well you've got a kick*ss car. Those headers make a difference when it comes to pumping up the hp with nitrous. That 60 foot time is something I dream on but adding a rear end like your strange is for better financial times. Once again, nice to see you here and thanks for the added info.

Man the car looks like the green coupe I traded away last fall. Right down to the 4 inch pipes coming out the back. Miss it....
